Hey,

My brand new oil pan gasket sprung a leak, and now I need to remove the pan and replace it. It's a 360 in my '71 Duster with a '73+ k-member and hooker competition headers. I was wondering if anybody knows if you can get the pan out w/o dropping the headers? If anybody has an tips/advice, I'd greatly appreciate it.

cant say for sure but i would take the engine out to get the pan of,took me about 5 hours of frustration to change a oilpump with the engine still in the car, however i have a deep sump with a much longer pickuptube and i had to unbolt the headers for this since there was no way to lift the engine with the TTI headers bolted to the heads to make enough space to get the pan down far enough to slide back.

I did it, I loosened up the header bolts and ratchet strapped em open so that I could slide down the oil pan, sucked! I should have just taken the headers off.

Good luck getting the new gasket to seal properly installing it upside-down. Make sure the rear seal is seated properly or it will continue to leak.
