Well guys after sitting for a year I finally got my Dart going and man it feels good. However now my AC doesn't seem to be working. Before I parked it the AC blew cold and worked very well. The only thing I have done recently is install an edelbrock intake and carb. Could it stem from something I failed to attach correctly or is it most likely in need of a AC charge?

Hell If I know. Is the compressor clutch engaging? if not, it's probably low or out of refrigant. If it doesn't engage the clutch, find the pressure switch. It's located close to the firewall in the low pressure line. Un plug it and short the two terminals together. The compressor should engage then. If it does it's low or outta refrigant.

OR heater control valve, it stops the coolant flow from entering the heater core when the a/c is turned on.

It's inline the heater hose.

But I'm no a/c tech...

Don't know if the heater control valve is controled by vacuum on your car but, but if it is, you might have hooked up a vacuum hose wrong or left one disconnected when you swapped the intake & carb.

I think I may have forgotten to hook something up. Unfortunately now I cannot find where or what I did. Man, I admit it's been a long time since I've worked on my car and the rust in my skills shows.

Turn on the AC & see if the compressor clutch engages when the engine is running. If it doesn't, follow the wire from the clutch back to the plug & see if it's plugged in. If not, that's probably the problem. Should be easy to find the wire it plugs into nearby. Hey, at least your car LOOKS cool. :love10:

What year is your car?

The 72 simplified AC diagram looks nothing like you hold in your hand. I'd guess that is part of the emmissions package

The vacuum is applied to the water control valve only when Max A/C is selected. Did you hitch up gauges to check for pressure? The connector you are holding is for an emission control device. Like Stroker says connect a wire across the low pressure cut out switch and see if the clutch engages. If it does you will need to add R-12. Is the connector plugged in at the compressor?

Thanks Cuda!!!!!! It's been a work in progress and I have a lot of little things left to complete. You know how the little things seem to chip away at your wallet though. I'll follow the line and make sure it's plugged in but I believe my clutch never engaged.

If the clutch is plugged in & doesn't engage then do like Mr Hemi said & bypass the low pressure cut out switch. Not sure where it would be but it's going to be in a low side line somewhere. Just follow the lines & look for the wires.

I'll do that after I correct my throttle/kickdown linkage issue. Thanks. :study:
