I always feel awkward when I go to pay after getting my hair buzzed off. I usually just hit up the local Great Clips when they have the "low wait time" sign hanging up front.

Give me a 1 on the side and a 3 on top. Blend it together and BAM... done. Nothing to it. I am in an out in just a few minuets.

I never know if I should give a tip or not when I go to pay. So... What do you guys do? Do you give a tip or not?

always tip anytime someone is performing a personal service one should tip

Yes I do, especially for the hair cuts.

If I get a good one (difficult) it is pretty generous, but if they were a pain in the keester and scalp me crooked, it aint much.

I wear a pompadour & since any hairstylist I've ever been to is clueless on them, I go to an old school barbershop. Perfect pomp & cleaned up with a straight razor. He even keeps Murrays Pomade (read: hair grease) on hand just for me. Not too many places know how to cut retro hairstyles so if the cut is $15 I always tip $5.

I have been using the same gal for 20 years. She used to charge $10.00, then $12.00. I always leave $15.00.
If she goes up again, I mave have to leave $20.00
Worth it to me.

I am a MAN, I will not spend more than $20 on a haircut.

I frequent a BARBER SHOP where they charge $11 for a cut and even straight razor finish on the back [neck].

I tip $5-$9 depending on my general mood and if I don't have to wait forever.

Yes you should tip ---- You should always tip anytime someone is performing a personal service for you. (Waitress, bartender, pizza guy, take out at a restaurant, hairstylist, concierge (at hotel), bellman(at hotel)...etc)

If you can afford to tip at least 15% you shouldn't be going out to use these services. Most of the folks working these jobs are being paid 1/2 of minimum wage to do them and rely on the tips to make the pay at least minimum wage.

Five bucks, more if you want, it certainly doesn't hurt to keep a good stylist in business....they will treat you well and fit you in if they are busy.

I tip but don't see the point. They don't do much work at all then you pay them then turn around and pay them again. I work at a feed store and load people up with feed and hay all day long. Once every month or two if I am lucky some one will hand me a few bucks. I will load up 20 bales in some ones truck, thats 100lb bales so a ton and they just drive off. Not that I expect it or think they should either. Just find it strange some one who goes snip snip a few times should. But like I said I do tip because thats what your suposed to do.

wjaholic, I always Tip. $3on a $10 haircut. I agree with the #1 on the sides and #3 on top also. A basic crew cut I worn may hair like this for approx. 75% of my life.

my wife does hair and we count on the tips
her take home of what you pay for your cut is noting really its all about the tips

if your cut is 10$ she gets around 4$ so if u tip 5$ she made 9$ on your cut it may only be 15 mins your there but it maybe her only client in that hr so she made 9$ a hr WOW
luckily she works at a high end salon guys hair cut 25$ and up plus tip

Depends on how big her rack is.... how much cleavage is showin'...... and how much she's shovin' 'em in my face...... wait.. what were we talkin' about again???? :evil4: :tongue10:
