So im replacing the leaf springs on my 1974 dart and i go to look under it (all original parts on the car) and its a horrible scene. all of the shackles are gone. the fronts are gone (rot) and the rear shackles the bolts have been fused onto the shackles to im going to replace them too. Where can i get front and rear shackles? autozone and advanced have nothing on their website. neither does napa or summit as ive seen. maybe im blind. But any ideas where i can get front and rear shackles? thanks.

Edit: the shackle mounts. front leaf spring mounts i think is what they are. same with the rear

your post-- says the mounts are gone -- my translation is the rubber bushings are toast--- where are you getting new leaf springs? the spring shop should have the rubber bushings you need. rear shackle kits are available-- try rock auto, espo even Jc whitney.

if the mount is toast then you need more than new leafs & serious metal work is needed.

How are the frame rails? By your description I would expect that they are in pretty rough shape too. Can you post a couple pics for us?

I bought mine from the local dodge dealer, and then snapped one of the bolts in 2 tightening it. :(

I have a pair of front hangers and likely some rears too. Just got rid of a set of rear hangers.

You need to know what size the front spring eye bolt size is for the hanger. Either 1/2" or 5/8"

So i got the problem squared away i think. I ordered them from desert valley auto parts they said they got them for 50$. Thats a deal. i have the springs bushing kit and i bought new U bolts cause they were rotten. the car underneath is not tooo too bad. i took the rear shackle mounts off and the leaf spring/shock absorber mount (sorry im 18 i dont know the names of all this stuff i just know what it is and what it does) i wire wheeled them and they just had a layer of surface rust im going to paint them along with the parts i order. i also bought front shocks and rear shock absorbers. i will post pictures when im able to get out of bed (bad fever all weekend) im also replacing a rear main gasket on a ford 302 with my dad on his pony. But hopefully tomorrow i can post pictures. thank you all. I bought all the stuff for $221 shipping included. it was some website that i will also post tomorrow

The website is US auto parts network. Its easy to use.

You really should stop parking your car in the surf :)

Hopefully you have enough frame left to bolt all of this to .

Honestly the more i look at it it looks very good for a new england car that hasnt been touched in 37 years. The only rot im crying about is the bubbling around the windows thats leaking into the car. But its very nice. when i get around to restoring it its gunna be better looking than most first strip downs. I just found out. the front hangers are what i needed and they should be in this week sometime. i been working with my dad on his pony and finally got that going today. Had to replace the rear main gasket and shes been leaking like a friday night ***** on a saturday morning. Soon enough. the front shock absorbers only took an hour and the asshole who owned the car before me look like he took a hammer to the front shock absorbers to get them in.

thanks
