What's the best way to fix a leaky carb. float bowl gasket. The cork gasket seem to las awhile but eventually leaks. I've tried cutting new ones and they all seem to only last a short period of time. Is rtv a better solution? How did you all that had this same issue fix this problem?
Thanks,
Jeff

Get some FelPro gasket sheet, the blue 1/16 rubber fiber stuff. Cut to form. Worked for me. Cork doesnt. About 6 bucks for a roll of 4 different kinds at Oreilly or Autozone. THe blue is fuel /oil, the black is water ,cork is valve cover or something like that, its on the package.

Holley makes some blue(?) non-stick gaskets that work well and last for the bowls as well as metering blocks. Just make sure that all the old gasket material is cleaned off. I've also been using nylon washer gaskets for the bowl screws.

Good idea.

holley 1 brl, don't think you can buy a blue bowl gasket for them, so the above is the fix, you can press the bowl onto the gasket sheet to get an indentation to help with cutting the shape.

Oops, I did it again!
Answering questions not seeing that it's in the 6 cyl. forum.

Buy the correct gasket.
Make sure the surface is clean and debris free.
Put it on the correct way,do not over torque.
You should have no problems.
Never use RTV in the fuel system.
Just asking for trouble.

Future refrence: Letting us know what carb your working with helps.

Make sure the float bowl cover is not warped all to hell either.......
