Do the 72 bumpers have the bolt pattern to the bumper as the 73-76 do to the inner bumper and shock assembly. I would love to do away with the god awful uprights on mine! (74 )

Are uprights bumper guards? You can take them off. Or find another bumper with out them.

Is it a shock mount bumper on your car?

I'm not sure of the bolt pattern, but don't forget that the 70 - 72 bumper is straight, where the 73 - 76 bumper has a point in the center to follow the lines of the grill and hood.

There are 2 bolt holes for the bumper brackets in the frame rail sides up to and including 1973 (pointy nose). In 74, there is only 1 hole in the frame rail for the back of the "shock" mount. the front of the shock mount bolts into a rad. support area. The flat end of the shock mount bolts to the back side of the bumper stiffener (inner bumper). At least there was an inner bumper on the 76, maybe there isn't on a 74.

Anyway, the flat 72 and earlier bumper will not bolt to the shock mounts. (98% sure)
