Milling big block heads?

-
Years ago I bought a set of max wedge ported 452's from Dan Dvorak. The heads were milled so much that they "felt" fragile to me. But they worked and had pretty good flow numbers. The open chamber wasn't eliminated but there wasn't much lip left.

I have a set of angle milled 346's off my 440 that I ran for YEARS. What would you like to know? The chambers are at 78cc right now and I ran a SpeedPro 11.5:1 piston with them. Yes, the valve notches had to be re-cut. Yes, the intake had to be cut and used only with a bellypan gasket. Solid cam, STOCK length pushrods. Made over 100 passes. Valve tips look perfect and do the Crane ductile iron rockers.

Me and Moper both have said the same thing on the push rod length. Yes you will need custom/shorter pushrods. And when you take that much off the heads I would think you would plan on Roller rockers also.

I always read this about the custom pushrods(why???)
when you mill heads say .100

I bought a set of 440Source heads and milled them .100 to reduce the CC volume to increase my compression.(had dif opinions on wether this was a good idea-the end result was i picked up 33hp w a larger cam)

I used the old mech pushrods and adjusted the lash with my adjustable valve gear. no big deal*Crane Roller rockers

Because to maintain the proper geometry your rocker are adjuster should have 2-3 threads exposed below the rocker arm. If you cut the heads the old pushrods should be to long unless there was to much of the adjuster showing before the milling?

Ok --Got it -for what ever reason if you don't have adjustment its pushrods..
I had plenty and usaully everything is a fight so i will knock on a fender!
thanks
i am here to learn!!!!
