I am setting my Dart up as a vintage street car from the early 70's. As I remember many people ran traction bars. I have read here that clamping the front of the leaf spring is actually better than running the bars. I was going to clamp the springs and run the bars for show only. Any thoughts on this??

Mopars don't use traction bars.
The axle is mounted 1/3 the way back on the springs as oppossed to the 1/2 back on GM and Fords.
That way when the front of the axle tries to rotate upward on acceleration, it has a lot less leaverage on the spring.
And the snubber can limit the travel on the diff snout.

Back in my day, if somebody was seen with traction bars on a Mopar, they got laughed at.

I believe that I will follow your advice. I really was only interested in running them as something that would have been on a street car in the early 70's. I've already got the stickers on the rear quarters, Doug Thorley knock off sidepipes, BFG TA Radials and stock ralleye wheels. There will be a fair ampount of chrome under the hood and I want to have the factory style double scoops chromed. Got any other ideas????? Thanks

Any other ideas ? Yes.
Chrome hood scoops ? Ewww. Matte black or body color.....Much better.
Traction bars...Cheby,again Ewww. Think Super Stock springs and pinion snubber.

SS springs overkill for my application, putting together a cruiser not a bruiser.

You asked for ideas, and said you were going for a vintage street car from the 70's. So in other words "The look".

Super Stock springs will give you the look.
And while your at it ditch the Rallyes and get a set of Cragers. Pure 70's look right there.
