Has anyone replaced the performance indicator in the '67 Barracuda dash with an aftermarket tach. If so, what brand did you use and do you have any
pictures?

Also, what modifications were required to the dash for the install?

Thanks for your help

Here's a pic of the new dash I'm working on. I made a holder out of pvc pipe (3"). I'm making everything white-faced. The tach 3 3/8" tach came from Advance Auto, the cost was 50.00 new.

Year One used to carry one that was a direct replacement for the factory tach (except it went to 8k), but it was around $175.00.

I purchased an aftermarket tach from Charger Specialties for around $160 (when it was on sale) I think they go for around $180 now. Direct bolt in and go...no hassles and its an electronic upgrade. Can sorta see it in the pic. Its an 8K tach.

Robbie2734 do you have a picture of the back so I can see the mounting?

Old thread, but I have the same question. Looking for a tach that is a direct swap for the original performance indicator. Anyone who has done this and can point me to a source and post pics, that would be awesome.

I have not had the cluster out, so I don't know if this one is correct, but it's the look I'm after. Something that appears original (not an obvious aftermarket replacement):
1967 Plymouth Barracuda Parts | MA1524 | 1967-71 Mopar A-Body Non-Rallye In-Dash Tachometer With 0 @ 8 O'Clock | Classic Industries

That one bolts right into the housing like OEM . This is the only pod of your rally housing that allows instrument to change out without panel disassembly. Once you place a new instrument in with the old, the old will show their need of screen clean and needle paint. That will require disassembly.

Thanks for the info. And thanks for mentioning the Rallye cluster. I ordered this one instead: 1967 Plymouth Barracuda Parts | MA1525 | 1967-71 Mopar A-Body Rallye In-Dash Tachometer With 0 @ 5 O'Clock | Classic Industries
It's on backorder though. :(
