Oil explosions when revving engine

Hi all!

i have a strange problem in a friends car, it's a '68 Dart with a 318 of unknown origins and a 904, what happens is that when revving the engine high for example when burning tires there suddenly comes a great cloud of smoke from the engine compartment and when one opens the hood the entire engine compartment is filled with engine oil like someone dropped an oilbomb under the hood though the engine doesn't leak during regular driving or when standing still so the question is what might the problem be?
 
Put on your goggles, open the hood and rev it up. You might be able to see where it comes from. I once had a water filter that had a crack in it and it only leaked when revved up. Maybe your oil filter has a small leak. Look anywhere there is direct access to the crankcase. Breather, dipstick, oil pressure sending unit, filter, PCV, etc.
 
Run it with the fan off and the hood up and you will see where it is coming from. My bet is the dipstick tube!

I second that!!! Does it have a pcv ? Breathers on valve covers? When i was 16 I had bought some valve covers for my dart that i had saved for a while. Got them on and same thing oil EVERYWHERE!!!!! Too young and ignorant to realize that my new cover had no breathers or pcv hole :(
 
pcv beeing? But i does have breathers on the valvecovers, what could be the reason for this excessive pressure then? To my knowledge and my friends all parts are stock but then again we might both be wrong, oilfilter is a new mann filter checked the dipstick and there's no oilpressure meter
 
I have had a Powerflite tranny "throw up" once. ATF was everywhere under the hood. It had come out the dip stick tube. Did it once and never again. On a 56 Dodge.
 
i would not bet my life on it,but check around the oilfilter, have had two engines where the oilpumps have had some kind of problem regulating the oilpreasure,ending upp with massive amounts of oil on the bandaged headers,twice resulting in underhoodfires. have also blown an oilfilter,good thing that happend in the garage,i still have the spots on the pillar as prof it got all the way to the roof.. changed oilpump and that fixed it.
 
You said the motor has breathers in valve covers, but are they plugged with old dirty oil? It would not be the pcv valve as when you stand on it the vacum to the pcv valve is gone and the valve is shut under hard throttle so it has to be the breathers. They are cheap just put new ones in,and see what it does.

You want to find the problem before you start changing things.

Also if the valve covers don't have baffles at the breather hole location and you have cheap/old breathers and no pcv hooked up you will get a lot of oil loss that can and will migrate all over the engine eventually getting blown around by the fan.
