Cool! Hope it works out for you, just hang in there.

Good news for those of you who have followed this saga from the beginning;
My writings have caught the eye of a publisher who has expressed interest in doing a book. Nothing concrete, but I will keep you informed as to future developments......
Great news . . . :thumbup:you have a talent for writing. Be careful and protect yourself. Good luck!! Rog :study:

I had a friend who went by captainkirk and he was into MOPAR. My son purchased his first car from him (69 Val) 24 years ago and still has the car today. He also has a Little Red and a 70 Sport Fury Grand. I have a 67 cuda which I have had for 17 years. I enjoy your writtings.

He's a fraud. There's only one of me and I'm it! Ask anyone here!

Phonies will be dealt with accordingly...

His name was Kirk and he was in the Navy. His father ran a MOPAR parts store in NY. He is not on this website. I have not seen him in over 25 years. Just though you might be him.

good to see you back capt.

Thanks! I know I'm big on promises, but this year guys are gonna see some pix of The Duke in progress!
I know I said I'd made up my mind on choice of color, but just for giggles, let's have a little poll here:

Poll Question- Which color/car did you guys like better?
A) The Li' Red Minx (Tor-Red w/ black 340 Duster stripe package)
B) The Duke (Winchester Gun Metal Gray)
C) Neither one
D)__________________(Fill in the blank)

Additional comments:____________________________________

both A and B, but if I had to chose, I'd go with B, because it's not something you see everyday.

Cap'n,

Attached is a picture of my twin brother's '66 Barracuda. This is a very nice color, I do not know the paint code though I'm sure he knows it. He is on FABO as 66moparrerun.

That's actually not too far from what the paint samples look like, although the virgin paint on the inside of the deck lid has more blue in the tint. I'm pretty sure that's the original Duke color, as all the jack instruction stickers are still there. It's actually a rather pleasant color. I'll try to snap some photos for you guys in the daylight (camera flash gives it a weird hue)
Thanks for your input, guys!

Wow, consider me hooked. It brought back so many memories for me growing up in Nebraska where about the only things to do as a teenager was drink beer, tell tales, and work and race cars. I miss my challenger, and my aspen, and my willys that I poured blood, sweat and tears into during those days.

Thanks Captain for sharing your tale, and bring back to life, what in looking back, was a magical time before responsibility and life took me down a different path.

Good to see ya back Cap'n.. I love Winchester Grey. It's got some weird greeny/bluey tint that makes it unlike any other silver. It's classy, like the Duke!

Yep, it sure does!
I like the Tor-Red that the Minx was painted (stunning, with the stripe package!) but the Winchester Grey original paint inside the trunk & deck lid is unique, and The Duke was a different sort of head-turner. I already had a Li'l Red Minx; I sorta feel like I owe it to Duke to restore him to his former glory!
One of these days I'll scan one of the original photos and get a digital image to post here for you!

Regarding paint:

Getting prepared to shoot the engine compartment soon. The black Rust-O-Leum Rust Converter has held up well over the past two winters. Other than being coated with a layer of dust, it's done remarkably well and should need little other than a light scuffing with Scotch-Brite and possibly a primer/sealer coat over the conversion coating. I'll listen to any and all suggestions before jumping in.

Not much happening with the Duke, but the final draft has gone to the publisher and contracts are signed.
Wish me luck, boys!

:coffee2:I want an autographed copy!! Glad to hear its in its final stages. Wish you all the luck in the world!! Rog

Thanks! Yeah, I had to change it up a little from the blog-type thread it started out as here, but it's even better.
Guess I'll have to finish The Duke now so I can write the sequel!

It's easy to ignore a project in need when it sits covered in dust and a tarp.. Not making excuses, mind you; just stating the facts.
I now have a much bigger problem on my hands.
My son just bought a '74 Duster project car, had it towed to his house today. Supposed to go see it tomorrow. After seeing two decent car shows this summer, I feel the motorcycle bond loosening it's death-grip on my time and attention a little, and I fear my son's Duster will re-kindle that fire I've spoken of in past postings.
I could be in real trouble here, folks...
