I thought about it but I have gotten used to it. I now like the pointed front piece.
Now that I see it on more cars....I really think it will go well with the the hood.

(Thanks johnnymac2k6 for the pic Very nice looking car)

The blue is ok but I wanted something that is going to stand out so I went with the yellow and black.
I know you guys will probably shoot me but I painted the 340 block black and did the
Chrome treatment on the accessories and valve covers so that it will pop in the engine bay.

Cool it your car so do it the way you want to. I think it will look great. I have had several yellow cars and they looked nice.

Not as of yet. I'm going to try to take it down this weekend. I'm still waiting to get
some parts from Promax for the carbs, they should be in this week.

Well I did not get the parts in time to take it down this weekend. This week I will put them on and then take it down. I spent all day Friday and half of Saturday finishing off the interior but the dash is still in (the guy is coming to remove the windshield on Monday). The good news the roof only has surface rust inside and is in great shape for a vinyl top car. The bad news is I will need at least a driver side floor pan as it looks like someone drilled a bunch of holes trying to put in bucket seats and never patched the holes and water got in under the carpet and you know the rest of the story...Oh and the trunk pan of course. All in all she is not in to bad of shape. I will get some pics up in the next couple of days.

Maybe it's the picture or maybe it's me but is the front carb sitting away from the center carb? On mine it sits right up on the center carb with no room in between.

Just stumbled back across this. It does look different. Only thing I can figure is that it's a combination of it being a straight side shot of the carbs & the difference between the size of a side hung & center hung float bowl. Just guessing? Look at the pics in this thread. Looks the same.

And yes, I'm an old dude. 54 this coming November. :-D

I don't know maybe it's the Ford carbs and the way they are spaced.
Also the fuel inlets are on the driver side and the fuel line runs
inbetween the first and center carb. Mine from the driver side.

Evildart,

I started at your 1st post in Aug 2010 where you set a schedule for "end of Sep" and was going to advise "no schedule, it will only disappoint". 2 yrs have elapsed since I started my Dart (thougt "maybe a month"), but am still determined to do it right the first time and not back-track on any thing. You are making great progress on such an ambitious build.

Went back over to the shop and finally finished up the tear down.
Got it all ready to strip. Here are some pictures of the day's work.

Evildart,

At first I thought that I was going to leave it orange and just put the
engine, transmission, and rear end in but after I really got to looking
at it I knew that the only way to go was to restore this car right.
The problem with it before I started was that someone before me took

off the vinyl top and took off some of the rivets that hold the trim on the package tray so any time it got wet or rained the trunk spare tire well would fill up and we all know the story from there. They also drilled all kinds of holes trying to set bucket seats in it and never sealed up any of the holes ='s bad floor pan.

Knowing that the car was always a California car helped with the decision
to restore it. Inside door panels are free of rust, door jams free of rust, frame rails free of rust ect...

I looked at it and said if I am going to put that 340 six pack in that car it should have a well deserved home and to make that much power and torque it needed to be up to the task of being able to handle it.

I hate to start something with a time line because we all know that's just
a wishful though but I think that by this Sept. I will be cruising in the Dart, (fingers crossed)

It is coming along! It is going to be sweet with that 340! Are you sticking with the 8 1/4?When we get both of our cars done we have to hit a few shows or just a cruise.

No I have a 8 3/4 being rebuilt by Pete at Petes Gear Shop over in Hayward. It's a 489 with a clutch sure grip, 3.23 gears. Also putting in
new BBP axels and a Stainless Steel Brake rear brake conversion kit.
I'll give you a call Rob when it's getting close to being done. We'll have to take it out and break it in right!!!

Sounds great! What you gona do with the 8 1/4? I want it if you are getting rid of it.

Got some more done. Floor pan and trunk pan are out.

Some updates:

I've been busy with work so not much time for play.

Going out to the shop tomorrow and will get some pics
of how it's coming along.

I've put the dyno on hold until we get closer to the
time of putting the car back together. I'm thinking mid July.

I miss driving the Dart. Can't wait to drive it again.....

Well it is coming along slowly but surely. Here are the pictures from yesterday.

I put my Promax center metering block on and also did the jet plates and the end carb billet throttle base so that you can adjust the idle screws with the motor running.
