where do i get boxes

I keep a stock of many different sized boxes, and will regularly stop at a few key places to get good boxes. If I see a house getting new vinyl siding, I stop for the nice triple walled siding boxes. The warehouse district is a good place to get boxes too, and I will always keep a stock of cardboard tubes I get from the carpet store by my house. The tubes are great for sending trim because they are compact and extremely strong. Get some priority mail and flat rate boxes from the post office in all different sizes and as many small boxes as you can. Get triple wall cardboard boxes if you can to maximize the box's abilities!!

Packing material is another consideration. Simply put, if you're gonna sell parts you're gonna need to know how to pack items securely, and the only way to do that sometimes is to wrap and pack the item in as much packing material as you can. Thats gonna be a lot of packages when you're talking about parting out a bunch of cars, so you need to find a source for packing materials. I have found that the "Pottery Barn" and "Crate and BarrelL type stores receive and dispose of a lot of packing material that comes wrapped around their items. I have gotten big garbage bags of that styrofoam packing wrap from those stores around me, and it keeps it out of the dumpster. Best yep is that all of this stuff is free, so you can keep the $hipping low!!

Packing and shipping items is the single hardest part of selling parts, hands down!!! It can quickly get out of hand if you're not careful!! Good luck Doc!!! Geof
