Have a 68 Barracuda notchback with 318 and stock 7 1/4 rear, wondering whats the widest tires I can fit on 15x8" rim with what backspacing. I heard I should be able to get 275/60-15 tires in there , is this true ,thanks Darrin

Welcome. There are a few threads on this topic you can search. Barracuda's have plenty of room to go wide. Tall is the limiting factor. There are some members that are using 275/60-15s but its close to hitting in the front. Here is how close my 255/60-15s fit.

Hey! I'm in Clarksville! I think if you want to keep your tires in the wheel well you need to stick to no more than 7". I had a 68 conv. and without moving the springs 7" was the max.. I still have my SBP slots I restored for it but ended up selling the car a few years ago. My 2 cents.

I was running a 275/60-15 on my Barracuda without moving the springs. The backspacing was 4". It was plenty clear on one side but very close to the springs on the other. The best thing to do is actually get both wheels off the ground and get a true measurement on both sides of the distance from the drum face to the leaf spring. From there you can decide on rim width, backspacing, and overall tire width.

1 have 275 60s on a 8 inch wheel.
