computer stores,copy machine shops,craigslist.Lawrence

Any store should have em. Just have to ask. The Family Dollar here in town just throws them in the back of the store and once they have a load someone collects them and takes to recycle. You just need to get there first. It may be cheaper to send the wheels in 2 or more boxes because of the size 1 would be.

Apple boxes from the local grocery store work great for small to medium things (20"x12"x12") They usually hold 40LBs of apples so they're pretty sturdy. Just ask for the produce Dept on the phone and have them save them for you.

For smaller things, you can order USPS Priority Mail boxes on-line for free. Your postman will deliver. Note that not all are the "fixed rate" ones. Those are generally lower shipping, any weight to 70 lb, "if it fits, it ships". Also, USPS has ~1/2 normal parcel rate if in the same zip code "region code". For long items, like trim, many recommend Greyhound.

I use flat rate USPS boxes. If the flat rate is gonna be more than if it was weighted, I cover the box in brown paper.

Also craigslist has people giving them away free all the time. No need to ever have to pay for boxes unless its something special.

well i had to buy the box for the wheels i got alot more for free i went to a spipping place up the street that i didnt even know was there lol my barracudas full of boxes now the wife wont let me put them in the her home as she tells me i told her fine then i keep all the cash i make out of the parts lol thanks for ur help i love this site lots of help

I get lots of large appliance boxes everyday. I install for Sears and ALWAYS have large cardboard boxes.

I always go to the recycling center, they have a big dumping pile that you can toss your unwanted boxes in. There is usually a good selection, and whenever I buy something I keep the packaging for later.

I keep a stock of many different sized boxes, and will regularly stop at a few key places to get good boxes. If I see a house getting new vinyl siding, I stop for the nice triple walled siding boxes. The warehouse district is a good place to get boxes too, and I will always keep a stock of cardboard tubes I get from the carpet store by my house. The tubes are great for sending trim because they are compact and extremely strong. Get some priority mail and flat rate boxes from the post office in all different sizes and as many small boxes as you can. Get triple wall cardboard boxes if you can to maximize the box's abilities!!

Packing material is another consideration. Simply put, if you're gonna sell parts you're gonna need to know how to pack items securely, and the only way to do that sometimes is to wrap and pack the item in as much packing material as you can. Thats gonna be a lot of packages when you're talking about parting out a bunch of cars, so you need to find a source for packing materials. I have found that the "Pottery Barn" and "Crate and BarrelL type stores receive and dispose of a lot of packing material that comes wrapped around their items. I have gotten big garbage bags of that styrofoam packing wrap from those stores around me, and it keeps it out of the dumpster. Best yep is that all of this stuff is free, so you can keep the $hipping low!!

Packing and shipping items is the single hardest part of selling parts, hands down!!! It can quickly get out of hand if you're not careful!! Good luck Doc!!! Geof

Check with local body shops for large boxes. A good sized shop probably gets fenders, hoods and bumpers in every week and most will be glad to give you the empty box. As said earlier, recycling centers will also give you boxes.

UPS does not care how many boxes, they go by total weight. If you make the boxes easier to handle, I think you have a better chance of them getting to their destination safely. Places to get boxes are: electronics stores; computer stores; bicycle shops; liquor stores; and all mentioned before above.

well guys thanks a lot i got the boxes now i had to buy one for the wheels no big deal for the buyer he just wants his wheels lol my poor barracuda full of boxes im now parting out a 74 or 75 dart 2 door se then it will be a 74 plymouth val but that one is after the darts gone then it will be a 64 val post car not much left of it and that will be it for a little bit im not takeing pms on the vals as there not here yet thanks later

I always get my boxes from the dollar store or dollar general, there already broke down and flat and I also get my clear packing tape there, the tape on a red roll $1.75 compared to $3.95 everywhere else...

It may be cheaper to send the wheels in 2 or more boxes because of the size 1 would be.

Yep...been there, done that......once a package hits a certain weight/size the extra fees are an arm and leg. Ship them separate.

You will soon find out how much of a professional box maker you will become when you just cant seem to find that correct box!! I get some decent ones from radiator shops, new construction sites and the back of any retail store, you just have to look for them now. Have fun!!

any one know where hemi par is from in Ky, I run a recycling center in london Ky, haha if you were around here I'd give you all you would want, you can check local recycling centers or where we get some of the most sturdy boxes are hardware stores and medical supply stores also clothing stores sometimes have pretty sturdy boxes.
