were there 2 sizes? I have a 7290 26 spline that is new and it is too big too engage the splines on my 904, which is out of a 73 coronet/318. I think the 727 had 29 splines if I remember correctly. Maybe someone can clear this up.
 
Victory performance is the 1 person that makes the 904 in 7290, Mark Williams only makes 1 in 1350, ANYTHING else is china junk . . .

Upgrade would be to 1350 or something similar.
The detroit series stuff is dead, the only people making driveshaft stuff for them are china, yeah and neapco, but that is questionable. . .
 
I've got a 7290 904 slip yoke from Mopar Performance. It's not a billet piece looks like a factory type yoke. I don't think they offer them anymore though.

But to answer your question there is two different spline angles. I've seen the larger joint yoke with a 26 spline slip but the angle of the splines were changed some time ago. In fact I have one of them in the garage somewhere.
 
The newer stuff is a different style spline, involute vs convolute spl, that newer stuff won't work with a 727
