Tire size impact on gearing

I have 275/60/15s on the back of my Duster and I went with BFG tires.

I would have prefered to go with the Firestone Indy 500s, but ran into the same problem with my local Firestone dealer.

My stock tire set up (14" ralley wheels) are the Firestones, but I could only find 2 tires locally and had to find the other 2 tires out of my state on my own.

So I figured even if I found the Firestone tires what would happen down the road if I needed to replace one or two tires...if they are that hard to come by now.

I have never been impressed with the traction that BFG tires provided, but they seem to be the only game in town when it comes to raised white lettered street tires unless you go with an off brand.

As far as the effect on gearing...use the 275s for SHOW...and buy another set for GO if that's important to you.

I have 3.91 gears so the taller tires will help a bit on those longer drives I do once in a while.

SO finally decided to pull the trigger on the 275s....call the Firestone dealer who originally quoted me for them and the 235s.

He calls the main warehouse and .......they are not available.

<sigh>

He is making some calls to see what he can find.....

...........nothing can be easy. :banghead:
