Yup, another 318 thread

With the heads typical flow ratio, the only way you'd really need more exh dur is if you were running manifolds, the header is gonna scavenge some by itself and pull it out.

Thank you.... Wildandcrazy is nice to have around, a voice of reason.

All the longer EX duration is doing in this combo is sacrificing low end punch...... And isn't that what stock converter stoplight to stoplight 318's are about?

IMO, there really isn't a great tailor made 273/318 cam...... I know the Comp is cheap, buuut.... a 220-224ish duration, 440ish lift 106 or 108 lobe center same on both sides cam would give it the bbBBWAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! off the line, choppity chop for sound like Grumble said, and get good MPG's at highway speeds if you so wish. (at 3000rpms)

I know it will run "just fine", just like the 114* 340 cam does in a stock 318. Everyone says the 340 cam in a 318 runs "just fine", but to me? why have "just fine" when you can have "freakin' stout"? I always thought the 340 cam in a 318, or even a 340 for that matter, ran fairly, well, lame. WHat you have is a little tighter than the 340 camlobe to lobe, but still..... Just leaving a lot on the table for a small inch punchy stoplight wanderer.
