///////dana 60 & 8 3/4 shock plates 100.00//////////

What happened to people on here showing some class. If you don't like his price don't buy them. No one wants to here your criticism of the sellers parts. If you were the seller you wouldnt appreciate it. Show some class and quit acting like Chevy guys.l

I didn't want to say anything, but it bothered me too much what he was claiming and how much he was asking. I do not want some newbie or teenager new to the hobby to believe the false claim that these are very rare and waste their money paying $100 for something that typically sells for $40 - $50. If you buy U-bolts from Mancini Racing (as many as I have), you learn that the U-bolt for the Dana and for the 8 3/4 axle are the same, therefore the shock mounting plate is the same for the same bolt spread. So the claim for the "Dana" is true, however this is also a standard plate that fits BOTH DANA & 8 3/4.

But in this case it seems that he is using the "Dana" name to "pump up the price". Just like many other sellers here using "340" to pump up the price and try to generate more interest for their parts. Many of the parts that I see advertised here as "340" parts also go on 318's. So basically it is a "standard small block part". Because it also fits on a 340 they advertise them as "340 parts" to try to make them sound more unique and rare and get more money for them (ie. timing chain covers, water pumps, electronic distributors, pulleys, starters...).

It doesn't seem honest to me to try to pass off a standard small block part as a unique 340 part, when in fact it is a standard interchangeable small block part. A true 340 part is like: original carburetors, 68 - 70 340 exhaust manifolds, stock dual point distributor off of a 340 (some 273's also had dual point dist. but different p/n), 2.02 X or J heads,pistons, rods, cranks etc. Something that ONLY CAME ON 340's. It's similiar to someone seeing a Hemi car pull alot of money in a sale and then they go home and have the same body style with a slant 6 and think it is worth as much as the original Hemi car.

8 3/4 axles were RARE ON A-BODIES, but STANDARD ON B, E, & C BODIES! Have you gone to the B or E body sight and seen what they get for the 8 3/4 axles? I've seen some going for as low as $250 complete for an open axle with axle, housing, and open carrier. The same setup here for an A-body pulls $500 - $800. The shock plates for the B, E, & C bodies are the same as the ones for the A-bodies and they made millions of those cars in the 60's and 70's. It's hard to find old Mopars in the junkyards nowadays because they are so old and parts are not in as high of demand as later model cars. And most that were in junkyards were scrapped when the price of metal peaked and were all sent to the "crusher". But most people stripping one of those cars should have some.
So the claim that these are "rare" is totally and completely FALSE.

The picture under his name even shows an E-body on a trailer. If he has worked on E-bodies he should know 8 3/4 axle was the standard E-body axle and is not rare at all.

Here are a few examples of what they pulled here in the recent past:

So Mr. daredevil, are you saying that it is ok for people to pump up their parts trying to sell them under false pretenses? I have a birth control pill that I can sell you that will prevent you from catching AIDS and Herpes if you use it and can be used by both men and women. Is that OK to advertise? Hell no, no pill is capable of doing that. And anybody that tries to advertise or claim that, needs to be called out and put in check. It used to be illegal to make false claims in sales ads, I'm not sure if that law still is in effect today. You know that old "False Advertising" relic...

All I wanted to do with my original post was bring to his attention that his price was high. I have bought some of these, and will buy more, but not at this price ($100). I have plenty of time and patience to wait for another "more reasonably" priced set to come along. Like you said, if you don't like the price don't buy it. These are nice parts and if he would lower his price would be a good deal whether I bought them or someone else did, but I would hate for someone who doesn't know better to spend their money on them at this price. Especially in today's economy.

Sorry fm3demon340 to do this to your post. I didn't want to step on your post this hard, but daredevil got in my grille and I had to state my case. If you would ask around $50, these would sell fast and both parties would be getting a good deal. As you can see from my links above that this would be a fair and reasonable price. If you do decide to lower the price, please open a new thread/post as this one has gotten a little muddied.
Good luck.
