So I finally got the lugnuts I need for the rims I just got. They are Keystone Klassics 14" SBP, not sure on widht, 195/70 tires. But now I am having another problem. As you can sort of see in my cruddy camera pics they look OK on the wagon. But there is a weight on the hubs that is in the way of the wheels fitting flush all the way around. So now there is a pronounced wobble if I try to drive. Is this what they call a backspace issue or is it something else? Can I put some sort of spacer in there to fix it?

Any advice is welcome
Thanks
Tim

You might try a short wheel spacer ;ie, 1/4" or less and see if it moves the wheel away from the balance weight on the drum.

I agree with Demonracer, or if you are comfortable in your skills, you could trim the backside of the spoke to clear the weight on the drum.

I personally, would run the spacer, but do your best to get the spacer that has the round holes instead of the 5 and 6 lug spacer with the oblong holes. The bolt hole openings in most of the spacers are not precisely machined so it takes some care to center them on the car so it does not affect the balance.

I had the similar issue with the fronts of mine. I stopped by an aluminum welding fab shop and they cut me some for $40 a pair. Exact fit and work great. Check in your local yellow pages. Goodluck.

Use a cold chisel and knock the weight off the drum. Simple as that. you are asking for trouble using a spacer with thick wheels, short wheel studs and a spacer.

Dont cut the wheel. Remove the weight and have the drum rebalanced.

I would use the spacer, as long as you have 11/2 time the diameter of the stud thread engagement in the nut your fine. If not just replace the studs with longer ones.
