You're working your way to a cool racer there. My dart is gutted just like yours is all metal and weighs just 2700. You should be in the 11's

Hey Dorian...glad to see you add to the thread!! Howd the fenders work for ya?? If I remember there was a slight crack in one?? You promised a video 2 years ago??? Where dat?? Glad yer having fun and spinning wheels....me no money no funny...

Hey 4 spd, yes there was a crack in the fender up front but I fixed it with the advice from a bodyman who is a good friend of mine.

The fenders fit awesome! As for the video I will have to get one from my brother in law and post it.

In the mean time here is a pic of my car at the track the first year.

Tonight I am going to sandblast the engine compartment and most of the window area front and back as well as the seams and rear tail light and valance area. Will post pics tomorrow!

Here is that pic I promised...

Just so happens that I am installing a new 383 with 10.5 to 1 compression (zero deck), ported eddy heads and this cam: Comp cams part #XE285HL

Here are a few more pics of the progress from yesterday. The plan is to have it in primer by the weekend and paint the weekend after that! Ambitious I know but I have a deadline!

June the 4th is our annual Spectrum Festival here in Medicine Hat and I am planning on displaying my car down at the CORE Association parking lot. This is part of the annual Autism Awareness Fundraiser I do every year and this year I am including my car as part of the awareness program.
Aside from new paint it will be decaled out with Autism Awareness billboards down the sides, kind of like the t-shirts I made up last year.

It looks great and even better i cant wait to see the decals. Good luck with the build! i love how your racing for a cause. Thats awesome!

Maybe some bigger tires in the back? i know you heard it enough.

Hey no problem DartIan, those are just roll around tires, I am running MT Drag slicks- 29x10.5 x 15.

I was just in with my sign guy today working on the layout, it is going to look great!

Thanks

Its been a few days, installed a rollbar and lowered the fuel cell,(notched it into the frame) Herb did most of the work, I continued with body work and lent a hand helping Herb.

Both fenders have a small crack in the middle of the wheelwell. One was there before and the other showed up after a year at the track. I will add some reinforcement behind it, should do the trick.

My car is almost finished paint, we installed the engine and transmission today and moved it back to the paint booth for the final color! I am sorry I haven't been posting pics but I have been running my *** off! lol

I promise that I will be updating this post with pics and info by the weekend, I am just going to bed and will be getting up at 3 am to travel 5 hours back to work. I will be back on Wednesday and should be able to post pics by then.

All I can say is wow is it sparkly!!!

OK as promised here is some progress pics. I have been going none stop for the last month trying to meet my deadline of June 4th. Paint is finished, now load up and off to the sign shop for Monday!
The guys from Apple Autoglass are coming over to the sign shop to do the front and rear window in lexan for me. We tried to order front and rear window rubbers but they are back ordered until the end of July at the earliest... lucky for me they make house calls! lol

I have yet to get it out in direct sunlight so I can snap some pics of the flake in the blue but I will add more pics next week when it is back from decals and windows.

Oh ya I am off to work until Thursday but in the mean time my nephew and his friend are picking up the car and trailer tomorrow night and bringing it back to finish polishing the blue on the car!

I honestly could not get this done without friends!!!

See you next week...

Looks awesome...its like Fabos version of "Car Warriors" getting it done!! Good luck and a great cause!!

Here are some more pics, just about finished... we have a few more decals and a cool pinstrip to add ( you will have to wait to see it )

We got it together Saturday morning after a 7am- 330am day followed by getting up 2 hours later and firing it at 930. Took it down to the CORE Association downtown for our city's annual Spectrum festival. The kids helped put on the puzzle piece decals on the back!

I took it out to the dragstrip on Sunday and it ran a 12.25 @ 112 MPH, slipping all the way through 1st gear. I was way out of the groove! lol first race of the season for me, a little rusty.

Herb figures it needs more tuning, a few jet sizes increase and I learned that if you remove your alternator and add an electic water pump you are going to need more than 1 battery in the trunk! I feel an 11 coming on!

FYI last year it ran consistant 13.2's but dipped down to 12.80s by removing the large gas tank in the rear and running 29.5 x 9 slicks instead of 26x10.5 ET Streets.

Keep tuned for some pics from the track. Hopefully a video or two
