Here we go

We need to do something about this I believe Dizzydean.
To much restriction, see if a counterman will let you look though his stock in back and find one that has a bend in it and cut to fit, NAPA has been good to me and let's me peek around in back, or a good counterman will find you one for you :thumrigh:

How about trying a 90-degree threaded fitting for the upper hose connection from the water pump if you can't find the correct hose? Should ease that hose restriction.

This kit came with two plates for a V8 dual carb intake to spin them side way's not sure if it would work on your Hurricane intake
or our Holley's yet but I can post the dimensions for you.

hey they also sell caps for the heater hose nipples... then you dont have the stupid hose on there...

Hey guys thanks for all the help. I am going to do something else with the heater hose like maybe move it up on top of the valve cover so its closer when I replace the heater core. Mike your plate looks very close. Ill check the carb when you get the dimensions. Luckily were working very late so I don't go rushing into things. I like doing it right the first couple times. :downtown:

Well I got everything hooked up to my satisfaction and tried to fire. Turned the key showed power drain but nothing. Tried a jump thinking the batt was low still nothing. Played with the shifter and aha the shifter is off. After a few finally got a couple min. starts out of it then the carb started squirting from the feed tube. Always someting so we shut it down not wanting to torch it just yet. People want over 100$ to rebuild it even though I have the kit so I did it myself. Replaced all parts from metering blocks to fuel bowls and put it back on. YEAH :glasses8::rock::happy9: success. Ran long enough to do the cam break in with no troubles. So far so good. Now I started it to hear it and it sounds like air blowing out of the exhaust. Immediate shut down. Does this sound like valve adjustment time already? Appreciate any/all help

Dizzy, one thing I noticed in your pics is that young lad helping in the project or is it his project? Now days it seems so many young Guys just want to turn the key and let mom and dad pay for the repairs.

Sorry for the delay in the response the young'un is my helper, son, and future car owner he helps when I ask or when he has a girlfriend that thinks the car is "cool". I have stopped for a while since I found the tinny knock issue,it was the torque conv. bolts they were to long and were hitting the converter without being tight. The other knock was as I feared a rod. After I took care of the first issue I put things back together, started it and it fired right up so I gave a couple taps on the throttle and it shut down. I tried turning by hand again and couldn't so I did some inspecting. Back by the engine/trans bracket is a 6-8" piece of block broke where I suspect the rod or its cap got pushed into. I'll post a pic after I'm done crying :banghead: At least I have enough parts to save some money on the next and just need to do a short block.
