Summit Dual Exhaust Systems

Works great! Needs minor trimming at tail pipe end for final perfect fitment. Worth every penny, sounded good, didn't split the ear drums inside the car, turned heads on the street, good roar when the "GO" pedal is on the floor. Ran 14's with a very mild 318 & 3.21 sure grip eequiped rear.

Trying one right now on my 72 Duster. Also as an FYI I have Hedman Headers.

Pulled the pipes/mufflers out the box last night and mocked up the front part. I am planning on adding an H pipe with it...so that will slow things down a bit.

Hopefully I will have some time this weekend but so far so good...seems to be a good deal.

Thats whats on the Dart Sport it works well the pipes and mufflers are good...its the crappy headman ground drager headers thats the weak link in my system. They are all pounded to crap on the bottom :( not horrid headers just horrid fitment lol.

Thxs for the posts. Another question? what are the offsets on the muffler inlet & outlet?

I beleive its 2.5 center inlet to 2.5 offset outlet.

I too have this system on my 72 duster and for the price it was a great bhy!.

It fit pretty good other than the tail pipes needing trimmed like mentioned but not a big deal.

I even squeezed it in with me 3" spring relocation I have o. My duster!.

The mufflers are not as loud as I would like so I will probably upgrade to a welded chambered muffler eventually but they don't sound bad as is.

I also have the summit long tube headers which were also a great deal.... not a horrible fit butnot perfect either.... needed a little persuasion.

Ig I had to do it again I would have got the coated headers becausemy non coated ones arr already showing surface ruat through the paint after just a year of sitting inmu garage.... but I am workung on a budget..... so maybe ill get nicer ones in the future.

Anyhow I say go for it!.

DD72, no worries on the rust on the headers, it comes off with a few heat cycles. ;)

Mickey, the muffler offsets are stock to the car.

Santa Claus brought me one of these setups.

Unfortunately, it's all still in the box in my basement so I can't comment on fitment or ease of installation yet. No rest for the wicked! :-D

What headers would you get for the summit system if you were installing it in a 74 dart v8 318 automatic?hookers?

I beiuleve that the Jegs system, maybe the summit sustem as well, recomends the use of Hooker headers for there exhaust system. Double check or call them.

Most typical headers for the S/B MoPar are the normal copy cat's of each other with 3 tubes under the steering linkage.

Ive been running the Summit kit for almost 2 years.

It fits great. Offset in/center out Summit Turbo mufflers .....just like stock.

The mufflers sound IDENTICAL to Dynamax Super Turbos....I know because I swapped them out to get rid of the drone and Both sets sound exactly alike.

I have am using the original manifolds with this kit, so some fabrication was needed. I bought a "J" bend and 4' piece of pipe with the kit as well as a flange for the 2 1/2" pipe to connect to the passenger side manifold. The passenger side was easy, only needed 2 cuts to the J bend and welded it together to connect to the Summit kit.

The driver side is tricky....I bought the TTI head pipe from a member here. It takes about 2-3 hours for the headpipe and linkage modifications (727 Auto column) but it too connect right up to the Summit kit.

All in all, I got a 2 1/2" mandrel bent system for a $450 including the repop 2 1/2" tips.

I put one on my 68 barracuda fit great but I had to trim the tube going over the axle to make it fit.

I put summits 2.5 on my 71 duster with hedmen Elites, the only problem I had was with the system was the passinger side exhaust pipe I had to cut as much off the pipe as I could from both ends Must be the style off headers, took that pipe off at least 5 times to make sure it fit right.

Messure more than once....
