Hey everybody,

My name is Tom. I'm in Long Beach, CA. I'm now working on my first Mopar. My friend has had a couple of Darts, a Valiant and a '61 Lancer GT. I've done a lot of wrenching on Slanty A-bodies but until my recent acquisition of a 64 Dart 270, I've had to live vicariously. Coincidentally enough, I searched for a year for a Dart before casually mentioning my search to someone at a bar. A guy sitting at the corner yelled out "I got my grandpas' old Dart sitting in my driveway. A hundred bucks and it's yours". Sounded too good to be true. But, other than frozen brakes (resulting in a tweaked fender and bumper: See my thread here; http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=151699 ) and sitting for 8 years, fluid changes and a battery were all it took to get her humming again. I'm now trying to get the exterior and interior up to par. I'm really happy to have found this forum as I can already tell the people here are both knowledgeable and friendly. Hope to get to know some of you!

Tom

Welcome to FABO!

I love 64 Darts! First car I ever drove. It was my Dad's hand me down 4 door with a slant six and the push button auto tran. As as 16 year old we beat on that car and it held up unlike some of my buddies GM and Ford cars

I did many a reverse drop burnouts with that car - Ha! If you don't understand what I mean, we would get the car going in reverse to say around 15 mph, and then push the "D" button and burn a nice long line backwards until friction stopped the car and we burned a nice long line going forward! I do not want to think about what my Dad would have done if he had found out how we abused that car.

Anyway welcome to the site. Great people and info here. I am new as well and have been having a blast.

When you have time would love to see more pictures of your Dart
