I went to an estate sale today and purchased this hand carved Church from the Black forest of Germany. It is made entirely of hand carved Oak. The clock in the tower works perfectly, to my surprise, and the movement appears to be from about 1860 from the mark. We're currently researching this piece. We have some history on the piece. The windows are leaded glass. I thought you would appreciate this work of art and the time someone put into it. MMG

The best part about this is that it's 3-dimensional and can be viewed from all sides just like a real church. I paid 100.00 bucks for it.:eek:ccasion:

Neato. I dub it The Black Forest Methodist Church. lol

Now you need to make a display and park a bunch of Mopar Muscle Car models around it.

That would be cool brother. We might actually do that at Christmas time. Check out the windows in the church. I used a flashlight to show you all the detail. MMG

Dang Guy :shaking2::shaking2: What a great buy :eek:ccasion:.
When I seen your thread I thought you was going to move in and remodel an old church, But this is a peace of great old art I would figure is worth ten times what you paid if not more to the right person.
A big congratulations and thank you for sharing this peace of history with us

Treva looked at it and said Toooooo Coool, and just look at the other nice old furniture you have!! Very nice sir!!

Thanks Memike. My wife and I love old things, Mostly from the Victorian era. We find the Victorian era very aesthetically pleasing and peaceful/comforting. MMG

That's a beautiful work of art to enjoy in your home. Will be interesting to hear what you learn about it. To think wood carving was a profession and someone designed, built and carved all that by hand.

Definitely a beautiful handcrafted piece of art! I probably dont have to tell you, but somebody putting that amount of time in probably "signed" it one way or another...be cool to research!

MMG,my brother spent 12yrs in Germany(NATO).When he returned,he brought home some very nice solid oak wall units, liqour cabinet,TV cabinets all with hand carved pics of a Stag standing on a mountain peak with a castle in the background. Some very nice work and heavy stuff.I,m gonna have to get a pic of it next time I,m at his place.

Very cool church!

Rather than MoPar muscle cars models around the church, you should put models of Le Baron built horse drawn coaches. ;)
