I am building 512 b block engine, auto, for street and a little strip use i am narrowing the rear end and putting 83/4 ends on the housing what dana do i need to use? Chev, ford, mopar, floating or semi floating?

well most Dana's regardless of ford, chevy, dodge are the same. Some truck housings do have larger tubes. Mine was a truck housing and it didnt have the larger tubes. look under 60-70s ford pickups. Dodge pick ups. You most likely wont find a car since very few cars came with a Dana. i will say this I have less in building my Dana then I would have just buying a used 8 3/4

I like the info about costing less than buying a used 8 3/4..... whats the fastest way to tell a dana? i am heading to the junk yard today to look...

hi, the dana 60 from a 1967 -1972 1/2 ton ford pickup is the best. it has 3 " dia tubes, is lighter. the dana 60 from a jeep 20 has 2 3/4 tubes. both have 30 spline axles. just add ends , brakes and your axles. dana/spicer sells a front yoke for 1350 u joint. I used the dana 60 from from 1/2 ton ford pickup 32 # more weight is all.

hi, on the lower left side of case will be 60 cast into case , looking from the rear of housing.
