Hi All,

I'm looking to replace my FSU, tank and tank straps in my '66 and I'm wondering if you can recommended where to get the best parts for the price.

And do you all have any recommendations for coating the tank as well? From what I've seen most of them come bare steel and that's no good. I've also seen a huge price disparity from various vendors - but the tanks all look the same.

Thanks a lot!

i got my tank from vansauto.com. vey nice and quick shipping. i lined the inside with blue lightening gas tank liner...

They were extremely helpful (bear in mind that I am buying from here in Australia). This is a Canadian made top quality tank with a full warranty. Ask the other sellers what warranty they give (it's mostly just 3 months) and also I have read about fit problems for the cheap tanks. I am wrapped in mine, and like I said the bloke is fairdinkum!

How was it putting that liner into the tank? Is it low viscosity? I was looking at the POR-15 product for the lining inside. I was thinking about simple epoxy chassis paint on the exterior.

it was okay....i washed it out with acetone, let it air dry for a little while, then taped up the opening and pour in the blue lightening, (which is actually bright green) LOL, sloshed it around for about 10 minutes turning the tank upside down at all angles, then drained it out and let it dry....it has the viscosity off....5w30 engine oil..if you will...

Rock auto parts, cheap, they have the sending units also I do believe. I used 66 Barracuda since I didn't know what you had

Hey Gary,

How's this tank holding up? I say it's nickel coated for corrosion resistnce but I'm leaning toward covering it up anyhow. What do you think?

Thanks.

Here is the Spectra tank if you're are interested in how it looks physically. I clear coated it before installation.

Thanks for all the feedback! I ended up ordering everything from Van's in WI. I'm probabaly not going to pre-treat the inside of the tank (I'll let someone else worry about that in another 40-years) and I'm going to clear coat the exterior because I love that bright metal look that mullinax95 was sporting.
