My 73 Dart Swinger currently has 235/60-14 tires on the rear, mounted to stock 14" Rally wheels. Do you think I can bump up to a 245/60-14 without any clearance issues? I'm running stock location Hotchkis rear springs, Competition Engineering Slide-a-links, and stock fender wells with stock chrome fender trim.

Here's an image...

Also, it looks like BFG T/As will be my only option. Does anyone know of another option? If there's more option in a 50 series, I'm willing to try that too.

I would love to step up to 17" or 18" wheels and tires, but the budget doesn't allow it.

Thanks, in advance, for the advice.

i ran 245/60-14 on my dart for years. i was running a large bolt pattern 8 3/4 rear. stock size.

i was running stock springs. not sure if you'll have clearance issues with your slide a link and springs.

I guess I can order a tire and see what I wind up with. If need be, I can cut/grind the slide-a-link perch corner.

I just ordered a pair of BFG T/A 245/60-14 for the rear and a pair of BFG T/A 205/70-14 for the front.

My local Discount Tire said they could order the rears for a test fit. I thought that was pretty cool.

One day I'll step up to taller wheels.

Scratch that. They just called back. Only on rear in stock and the fronts are on back order. Pffft.

I have another question.

The stock bolt pattern on a 73 Dart w/ front discs is 5 x 4.5 in (110 mm), correct?

I have 235/60/14's BFG TA'a on the rear with a 5.5 stock ralleye rim and 205/70/14 front. No problems with clearance whatsoever. I know that 245's would have also fit but 255's would be VERY close to the leaf spring(running stock V8 springs not SS or 340 springs)

14" tires are getting tough to come by. BFG T/As seems to be the only option and they are scarce.

If you need a set of 14" x 8" SPB rally wheels I have a set that was custom made for my fish. They need blasting and painting the surface rust off.

I have a 65 Valiant and trying to put a 7 1/2 inch wheel with 245/60 14 tire under the rear. I will have 1/4 inch clearance from the springs ang about 1/2 inch from the front of the wheel well. Please let us know if you have any tire rubbing problems. And you are right, buying 14 inch tires are getting to be tough. Jerry
