I picked up a factory am fm for my 74 dart. One problem, FM only gets one channel around 107.5. Does anyone know someone who can fix it?
Thanx, GARY

If you can't find anyone here to fix it, there is a guy in Pa. named Mike Frenchek at Retro Radio that can repair or upgrade it for you.

Some of these have a string on a set of wheels that control tuning. If the tuner is turned pass the stop point the string can slip on the wheels throwing the calibration of the tuner out. If you can only receive one station in the upper register this may be what has happened with your radio.

A couple of things I learned over the years: A telescoping antenna should be trimmed for either AM or FM; that is, adjusted to different lengths or something in between. Check websites that talk about car antenna trimming (I think AM is longer than FM). Also, I remember seeing somewhere that car radios/antennas function on the ground wave created by the body decking. Again, I don't know whether this affects AM or FM more.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think there is an adjustment that you can do yourself for FM. I know there was an adjustment for AM. There was a little hole with a screw either near the tuning knob or somewhere around where the antenna goes in the radio that's for AM only I believe.

For FM you may have to get a signal booster or have a tech do the adjustments for you.

I would first check longgones suggestion it's worth giving it a try and it doesn't cost anything.
But if you're getting AM stations this may not be the problem.

Fishbreath also has a good point. If you have a telescoping antenna try adjusting to different lengths. Maybe do this first if you haven't.
