My next question is, Does the permit cost money? That would answer the why question. Probably just another money grab.

I wish one of my neighbors would get a ticket for his junk, it is out of control. Five acres of just crap. But living in an un-incorporated county has its advantages/disadvantages, just depends on what side of the fence you are on......
 
My HOA in Kent, WA is going after an old lady because she has a very old, non running car in her garage.....with the garage door closed. Wish I was a lawyer with a lot of money.
I would love to make life difficult for those people.
 
Wow, when does it stop? Next they will want someone to get rid of their couch, because it's old.
 
I have a picky *** neighboorhood assoc. here. I parked my motor home so the tag is obscured so that the only way someone could see it was if they actually came into my backyard and opened the fence to gain access. Sure enough two weeks after the tag expired I got a personal visit from the Code Enforcement officer who said that I needed to get a current tag to be in compliance. The ONLY way as I said is that someone from the neighboorhood assoc. came into my backyard, illegally trespassing while they were at it, and looked at my tag on the motor home. As it were there is a BUNCH of retirees here who have nothing better to do. I am about ready to put a really junky, rusted, raggedy *** junk car right in the front yard, put a concrete bowl on it with water in it and call it a bird bath.

Now that is funny!! LOL

reminded me of a time my next door neighbor had a german shepard that barked constantly, I politely knocked on her door and asked her if she could bring her dog in at night as it was always barking up past midnight. She told me that her dog doesn't bark and that she was an animal physcologist and would know if it did.
She then closed the door in my face and that was that.

The next week I seen her outside and asked her if she wanted me to cut and fertilize her lawn. It was so overgrown with dandylions that it looked more yellow then green! She replied no her yard was "natural" and she liked it that way!

Funny thing, a few weeks later my neighbor across the street called me over and invited me in. He took me upstairs and to a window in the front of the house. He pointed out my neighbors once yellow lawn. It was now almost completely brown! He noticed it the other day but it wasn't until you stood way back at a vantage point that you could read the words "**** OFF" on her front lawn.

He asked me if I knew anything about it, I said no I had no idea what happened.

He just chuckled and asked me, by the way how do you keep your back alley so clean from weeds?

I replied "SPIKE"

that is a 7 year soil sterilizer we used to use down along the railway tracks...

They told me that they have a right to give me a warning/ticket not for tags or registration or it being in plan sight.

They told me the EPA and Health laws gives them a right on non-functional cars.

The loop hoop: I ask them what makes it a non-functional cars. Not running, no inspection, no registraion, on blocks, taken apart, missing engine or tranny. The cop was cool enough to tell me if I have at least one of the tags, he can't touch my car. I was also told my neighbor ratted me out. Remember this is in Texas. I don't know about other states. The EPA and Health laws.

As do most jurisdictions.

The permit does cost something, not a lot.

The reason you cant remove a dead tree without a permit is so you do not just kill a live tree in order to get around the permitting process.

That is why i keep my barracuda in my back yard cuz the hoa told me what i do in my yard is my business
