I would have assumed that in a tech forum of electrical and ignition that someone would have known something to help me out on my post just yesterday. I find it hard to believe no one knows what is a source of power from the ignition to fire a MSD box. It has to be hot in the start position and hot in the run position but is killed when the ignition is in the off pos. I guess I must have done something to get on a do not answer list.Thank you for a little bit of hope anyway,Bill

You could have given it at least a full day before starting this kind of thread. You asked a question on a Friday evening when alot of members might be out instead of sitting at home on their computer, then express disappointment on a Saturday morning. But regardless of what day it is, give it a little time. As for your problem, if you hooked up that thin red wire to the wire that was originally attached to the "+" side of your coil that should solve your problem. If that doesn't work, you have other electrical problems to deal with.

find the blue and brown wire from the old ballast resistor...connect them together...then connect msd red wire to them...

one wire is start...the other is run....been there done it several times

this took me a total of 3 seconds to find in a google search, do you now need someone to come over and wire it for you?

Jeez, don't you own a test lamp. I suggest you buy one it's not rocket science.

Well, I was indeed out on a friday night, and didn't see the question at all and was unaware of it until this thread. And, since I don't know about the wiring requirements of the MSD box, I wouldn't have been of help. How many views did the question get?? Maybe a lot of members don't know the wiring requirements of the MSD box as well but looked at the thread to see if they could help. Be patient Grasshopper, nothing good can come of the grasshopper who jumps before he looks to see where the snake is!!! Geof

Didn't answer the questions from the members that did reply to the original thread either. :eek:ops:

if you like I can put you on my "ignore list" then you could have the honor of being the first one there

or even better why dont YOU put me and everyone else on YOUR "ignore list"?

This is the first thread I get to read this morning, fabulous. Just checked your MSD thread. Fun read. Now go back and say what year your car is and what you did to your wiring to remove the ballast resistor. Love the part where you start off with "I just restored a car" and end with "I'm not a mechanic"......
Sorry, but I had a late night. Now go correct your thread and your attitude. I'm gonna go have some coffee and come back and see what we can do.

All right, all right, let him be.
I'm sure he's just frustrated.
You know we can all get a little quick at the lip, when we want to fix something right away and can't...
Peace,
Tony

All I can say is that this has happened to me,and was early in coming here. It was suggested I make my post/question as clear and concise as possible and then give it a few days for a reply. If nothing after the 2 days try a bump, just to bring it to light again.

It also has a lot to do with what time you post at. Late at night will get almost nothing for a reply, ususally.Try to post during busy times, and you will get better results.

Man what happened to all thge cool guys that were so much help to me when I needed it. Seems like to me everyone has thin skin anymore. This was a really good site but anymore there is too much arguements going on that I am not so fast to log on as I did a year ago. Why can't we all get along without throwing personal opinions in the mix. Like the man said ( BE NICE IT'S JUST A JOB ) I guess the older I get the less I want to get up in someones SH&T the less I sign on anymore the more I see what I'm not missing.

What's the problem?

I been talking to myself in a transmission swap thread for weeks.

Sheeeesh.
