I have a friend who owns a 4-door 1975 Plymouth Valiant with a 225. The car is a bit rusty in the quarters. It drives pretty decent, and recently had a new carb put in. I think he said it has around 70K miles on it. He's looking to sell it, but has no idea of the value. I can't imagine it would be worth much, but if you guys have any idea, I would love to hear it.

Ah yes, The "how much is it worth" question.

I'm sure you will get a LOT of feedback, but the ONLY determining factor is...

What is someone willing to pay for it?

you may get some dude that had one when he was a kid that had the exact same options, color, smell, etc that will pay what I might think is a ridiculous amount.

With that said.. to me probably about 800 - 1200 for it. but then again I'm a duster guy.
I paid 1800 for a 73 /6 duster with 135,000 miles on it. (down from 2500 that he wanted) (best price for what I could find locally)

Clear as mud? how much is my advise really worth? what someone is willing to pay

Like Player1up said, value is what someone will pay for it. You can take a look on auctions such as Ebay and see what similar ones are selling for and then compare the one you're looking at to them. Remember this, if you see rust in the quarters, you can almost be guaranteed there is more in other locations. Check it out thoroughly before commiting to buy. Mike

I just recently bought a 1975, 4 door Dart, /6, runs fine, decent body with not much rust, for $400 Cdn. I only wanted it for the front disc brakes for my Duster, the rest I'm parting out but it gives you some idea, they're not worth a lot.

I don't want one, so to me it would be worth $50, that is you pay me $50 to take it away, yet you can advertise and you might find someone who has a serious case of nastolgia glasses on and would give you $500. Value is what you will take minimum vs what someone will give you for it.

It can be worth more parting it out depending on the condition, the one I have has bucket seats, good rear bumper, perfect front bumper, grill, hood, trunk, good motor and trans. All of that is interchangable with the 2 door models. Just depends if anyone in your area is looking. It costs about $800 to rechrome a bumper where I am last I heard so a good used one has to be worth a few bucks.

So you would like to think. So why is it I can't find anyone interested in the excellent condition 1971 Dodge Dart bumper and brackets I have that I was willing to part with for $75 plus shipping? I was thinking someone MUST be selling NOS bumpers for that same price somewhere or else I woulda thought someone woulda responded by now. Oh well, just more to go to the scrap metal bin because I sure as hell ain't gonna give it away.

It's too bad, but slant 6 cars aren't worth much unless it is super clean cond. If you want good gas milage or a cheap car to drive, go ahead, buy it, but there's no resale value in one unless you part it out or convert one to a V8. Prices go slant 6... strike 1, 73 and newer... strike 2, 4 door... strike 3! Pay 200 - 400 bucks at the most for it, unless it is exactly what you want then go 600 max in this shape. BTW, rechroming a bumper for $800? you gotta be kidding! $300 max in Alberta if it's bent bad! (for show chrome)

Some people seem to know the price of everything and the value of nothing.

You are so wrong, which world are you living?

Slant six car ain't worth a much...?

Hah Hah...

You can send me every 200 dollar slant six which is moving with own engine and transmission and those eng/trans is in a Dart/Valiant...

I just refuse to sell my Dart with Slant Six in 15000 dollars...

Okey, it is not a project car but it is a Slant Six Dart...

Althought the value of these are at the low end of the Mopar spectrum it has gone up some in the past few years. I would check to see if anyone is selling something similar in your area and see what they are getting for it.

still have the front 71 Dart bumper? you are in Tampa...right? can u show me any pix of it or describe it? dents, rust, lustre?

the slant six isn't hurting the value as much as being a 1975 valiant 4 door and having rust are..

i would say at the most a few hundred bucks.. unless you find someone that just has tro have it.

If it has disc brakes you can always get 200.00 for them if you junk it. I wouldnt pay more than 300.00 if you really like the car. :salute:

When the supply of slant 6 cars reaches the status of "almost extinct", we will all be asking ourselves the same question, why did I sell it. (I'm getting a free one on Sunday, from a buddy of mine, for parts). Will probably look to Craigs List to get rid of it, after I get what I need. I am glad to see that there are some /6 enthusiasts out there to keep the "leaning tower of power" still viable. Howard

Makes me sick when everyone wants to take a running car apart to sell for parts. :wack: They are not making these cars anymore people....

O,and my car has a slant and it aint worth nothing..... :salute:

I'll tell you one thing. If gas prices keep going the way they have been lately, we're all going to be looking for slant sixes and 273s. Mike

To give you the true value of the car, pics would definately would help.

thats exactly right Howie! i`m responsible for crushing literally hundreds of 60`s-70`s Muscle Mopars...several hundred! (back in the day) and i`m literally sick from it sometimes! but we didn`t realize what their value would become today (or tommorrow!) so we took the munny hunny!
i know better now and i know that i might never have my 68 Charger R/T 440 (390HP) with every option, leather, power windows, air, Dana, etc, etc...back again! ...unless i win the lotto, someone dies and leaves me a big pile of munny (not likely, i don`t even kno anyone like that!) or...if i marry rich...haha...well a girl can dream!
so what i`m saying is that if you CAN save them DO save them! even if u let them sit and rust...it beats crushing them for the price of iron, much less sheetmetal!
all else being equal their prices are rising. if things don`t stay equal, we`re in real deep doo-doo! (can u say DOOM?)
they will never be worth less and they are at least viable parts for their more rare counterparts!

I think that's the nicest looking /6 I have ever seen !

I pretty much agree with all the comments. If I had room to keep my free Scamp, I would do it. I've already found a home for the engine and tranny. I do need some body parts however. I will not let it go to the crusher. I will give it away as a project if I have to. If nobody parted out these cars, many of our restoration projects would be dead in the water. So we sacrifice a few to save a few of the old cars. If gas prices keep going up, we may all be left cursing at our 400 hp V8's. Howard

I would do a slant 6 if my cars weren't already V8's. I think it's a great engine.
