looking for 5.7 to /6 k mounts....

-
I have never seen or heard of any conversion mounts for a /6 to Gen III Hemi swap. I dont think they exist. Why? The only thing I can think of is there could be clearance issues with Exhaust, oil etc. I dont know.

Im thinking if you want to use the /6 K member, you will have to fab your own mounts. There is at least 2 custom mount kits out there. Search eBay for some that are like $120 or so..... I found some at another vendor some where but dont recall at the moment. Google it.

:D

Will a factory v8 k member bolt into that car? Or you can get a aftermatket k member?

The pitman ARM and steering stuff is one year specific for 67. So is have to change all of that stuff for a different k member. Unless I can find a 67 v8 k member, but for some reason those are probably like gold. Rare and expensive.

Its hard being a Mopar guy when your on a budget sometimes.... My 5.7 was a block i picked up at the dealer just out of high school, the guy put a truck in the water and hydro locked it. So i have had it for six years just as a block, it was on a stand in my apartment bedroom when i was going through UTI and I was fortunate to work at a machine shop and make some friends to get this engine machined. So i know what expensive parts do to you.

Hmm, I have the 67 K member I pulled from my car when I did my hemi swap sitting around. Whoever had it before me swapped a V8 in place of the /6 but just hacked off the stock mounts and welded up new ones. It would be a good base to start fresh if you didn't mind re-welding the mounts. The ones that are on it are pretty messy and spaced using angle iron and square tubing, lol. I just swapped in a 73+ frame for the spool mounts and had to get a new steering box anyway since I had to convert to manual steering. The guy I got it from was nice enough to toss an idler in with the box.

you have a pic of it?

I would NOT use a 67 K. I own a 67 currently with the factory 67 V8 K. Because of the "one year" steering linkage, (idler arm is 200 bucks) I'm going to swap in a later K when I get around to the disk brake swap. This will give me a late V8 K, disk brakes, late steering link, the whole deal.

These setups are just not that hard to find. I got mine in an absolute horror of a rusto junk Demon for 300 bucks

This is the other weld in mouting set-up I was talking about.

Not a bad deal at $99. I would be concerned about exhaust clearences though. But it looks like it could work if the old mounts were removed all together and these added in thier place with lots of measuring.

I may try this when the time is here but Ill have my trans mounted as well as steering and exhaust in place for mock up.

I think that this is about all you can do with a stock /6 k member.

Here's what I pulled out of mine. The mounts are pretty messy and I am under the impression they are not quite in the right place, but they were in there pretty solid at least. It would be a good candidate to have the mounts totally removed and replaced with whatever you want in my opinion. The lower control arm tubes and in good shape with no cracks and the rest of the frame looks pretty good too.

Basically you have two choices. I know because I also have a '67 slant six car.

1. Make your own.
2. Swap out your K-member, and use the TTI/Schumacher mounts.

I have a complete blog posting about mounting options here:

FYI, I was able to find a 73-76 K-member on FABO for 100.00. Good condition for something pushing 40.

My biggest issue is I already have new wilwood brakes on my stock spindles. I don't want to go through the expense of changing those out. My plan is stock k member and tubular control arms upper/lower and perhaps coil over conversion from caps. The stock k let's me keep the stock steering. I need the room to run my exhaust forward instead of standard headers cuz of a turbo. Id go with an engine plate, but haven't found one of those yet either.

K-Member info.

The '67 K-member is a one year bastard. The weak link is the idler arm which wears out quickly. The simplest thing to do is to swap in a 68-72 V-8 K-member. All your other suspension components will bolt right up. The only one that won't is your idler arm, which is a POS anyways.

If you opt for a 73-76 K-member the swap is essentially the same. The big difference is the 73-76 K-member has provisions for the sway bar to pass through K-member so you need to order one for that year and not one for a '67. Also, since you will probably be using your '67 center link, you'll want to order a 68-72 pitman and idler arms. Other than that, it is a direct swap.

If you go to tubular upper control arms this isn't a problem either since you can do one of two things. You can buy a set with the smaller ball joints, or buy a set with the larger ball joints and have your spindles reamed to the larger size. Firm Feel sells both sizes of tubular upper control arms. Personally, I'd go with the larger ball joints for more durability.

A note regarding the sway bar differences, you can still run an older sway bar on the newer 73+ k frames. I have an older style front mounted sway bar or whatever you want to call it that I put on my 73 K frame, but I did have to do a little work. The frame had the holes for the sway bar mounts drilled on the bottom side of the frame, but they didn't go all the way through, so I just had to drill them the rest of the way. Worst case if there aren't any holes present you could just mark them and drill them all yourself.
