Just curious, as a kid I used to collect 'HO' slot cars. I found a 1965 Barracuda slot car that is 7 inches long and 2.5 inches wide. It is a body/shell over the frame and the shell has some detail such as the pentastar, the V8 emblem on the fenders, plymouth over the center grille, belt chrome below the glass back, and other details like wipers, door handles. It is 100% molded in one piece. There is no company stampings on this slot car so I have no idea who made these.....

First and only one of these I ever saw. the guy I bought it from said he used to go down to a hobby shop and race it on a public or community track back in the day with a bunch of other kids who had their cars.

Anyone have any other info about these? Have an interested FABO member who wants it....I was just curious about the origin as I know nothing about it....guess I can search the site for legacy postings (off to do that now......)

Hoping this is worth thousands of peso's!!!

Do a search for them on ebay. I used to see them all the time on there.

The name Eldon comes to mind. I have a couple of these barracuda slot cars..
I'll look around in the dungeon for them tonight..

I checked out the EVBC link. Neat, bet there can't be too many of those complete Chysler sets around. From the link those cars are 4 inches or so, this one is 7 inches and the frame/chassis does not look like it is commercial, almost a custom job. The interesting this was the older gentlemen I bought it from did mention he used to go to a community track to race this car on so it was a whole different scale then what the EBVC link refrenced.........

Strombecker made them in '66 because I have some of those.....

I don't know of any 1/24th scale early Barracuda slot car that were made as either a "ready to run" or in a kit. Although back in the day it was NOT unusual for a model or promo body to be adapted into a slot car.

As shown with the link Strombecker made '66 Formula S slot cars in 1/32 scale and Aurora also made a 1/32 '65.

If you could post pictures I could help you with a bit more info.

Waaaaay back I had a Strombecker slot car set that originally came with 1/32 scale cars: a Ferrari Berlinetta and a D-type Jaguar. Later my parents got be a couple of early Barracuda bodies for the same set.
I wonder whatever happened to it?
