73 EGR Question

I have a 73 scamp with a 318 and want to get a edelbrock performer intake manifold.This is a weekend driver and just bought a 1406 carb to rebuild.The 73 has the egr on the stock manifold.Do i need the manifold with or without egr ?Is it exempt from age and what are the pros and cons of it.I live in Missouri THANKS
