Ok, so I've had absolutely no luck finding a steering column without the column shifter on it. I want to change my Auto Trans Column Shift to a Auto Trans Floor Shift. I have found no parts, kits or instructions anywhere. Can anyone help me out? The car I am custom/resto is a 1973 Plymouth Duster with Power Steering.
Thanks In Advance....
P.S. if you have parts for sale to help me out let me now.

Don't give up, it may take a little time for these parts to come around. Do you at least have a console shifter yet? I had my floor shifter console in for 3 years before I got/found the correct steering column. Once you get a console shifter, just take out the old shift linkage to the trans and shifter lever on the column itself. You will have to live with the hole until you can get a correct column. A shifter should not be your problem (after market) B&M or what ever your fancy. Columns maybe....Ckeck e-bay as they do come around (but are harder to find as you found out).
PS I have seen them run as high as 200.00+ Good Luck to you.

Another option is to remove the upper column sleeve and gind off the shifter boss and gear indicator. Use some metal to metal filler or the fiberglass reinforced filler and fill the holes. Sand it smooth and a coat of paint and no one will know.

Cool, thanks guys! The car is going to the paint shop next week I hope so for now I think I'll grind and fill the column until I can get a hold of the right column. As for the floor shifter I am just trying to decide which one to go with, B&M, Hurst, etc. Now will there be any linkage that I'll need to go from the floor shifter to the trans or do these after market shifter just bolt down to the floor hump and drill a hole for the linkage to run through? Sorry fellas, I am new to Mopar Yahoo you can see that VW's were my thing, but now I have upgraded to "big boy" toys. LOL! Thanks Again

As stated above...and if you do this, you might as well pull out the complete column anyways, take it apart right down to the inner tubes and grind off the shifter levers. They look ugly in the engine compartment. :salute:

I agree, I did this to mine and it looks great. It took me about 1-1/2 days to complete the job. Probably 4 hours to do the grinding and filing, and then a small amount of Bondo and primer/paint. Let it dry overnight and re-installed. I don't have a lot of "special" tools, I used a dremel tool and flat file for most of the work. I also lubricated the bearings, cleaned everything up, and added a Grant steering wheel at the same time. I was very happy with the results. I don't think I will ever worry about buying a factory column, it looks that nice.

I am in the process of converting my dart to floorshift. I bought a complete column off of ebay for $250 with steering wheel (I recently saw the same steering wheel go for $200, so maybe I can get some of my money back!).

I installed a Hurst Promatic 2 shifter on the trans tunnel. It is a cable operated shifter, and was pretty easy to install. Just make sure you get the proper kit for your application. In addition to the shifter, you need a mounting bracket for the cable and also a boss that bolts the cable end to the transmission.

Two wires for the reverse lights and one for the PRND21 illumination. Pretty straight forward.

I have yet to install the column.

Thats what was done to mine...
