I have a 64 dart with stock 13" rims. I would like to go up to 14" to make it easier to buy tires. I want a stock look, possible the dog dish style. What are good donor rims or reproduction that would fit? Also, I would like suggestions on tire size.

Thanks

hey 64,
i`m putting on some cragars and if all goes well, i`ll probably be selling a set of 14 inch steelies stock w/hub caps. same as in pic except 14 inch
Moe

not much available in stock small bolt 5X4" wheels even the 14" rims are only 4 1/2" wide so you can only fit a 185/75-14 or 195/75-14 tire, anything wider and the sidewalls start to bulge, the only other factory small bolt wheel is the rally rim, at 5 1/2" wide it will accept a 205/70-14 or 215/70-14 tire no problem, that is why aftermarket wheels like cragars are so popular

You can get 15" steels with the 5X4 bolt pattern from Classic Industries. You can get a 15X8 withg a 4.5" offset. However, they don't show a 15X6 steel wheel. specialty Wheel out of Portland or. carries 15"/4.5" BS steel wheels as well.

Here's my setup

14X6 front, 14X7 rear 235/60 all around.

Wheel Viniques makes a rally wheel in14X6, X7, X8. They are available in silver power coat for around $95ea or chrome $125ea from Summitt.
The 68 and 69 gts cars and I'm sure some later years with 340's had the 5.5in wheel.

What years can I get the 4.5" and 5.5" wide rims from?
I believe the 340 and 383 GTS's 67,68,and 69 came with 14x5 1/2 steels. Not sure what else they came on. I saw a few sets on moparts for various prices as well as several sets of aluminum 5 on 4 wheels, slots etc . . . :coffee2: I have 14x6 chrome reverse ,blasted and painted on the and back and 4 1/2 on the front, with the flat doggies.

What is the first year of 14" rims on a Dart? I would like to get stock hubcaps from the earliest year possible.

sounds like a job for GOOGLE :burnout: most likely 64,63's were all sixes and 62's were b bodys I believe

I love the 14x5,5" sbp wheels. They give you that kind of original look but is a great step up both in looks and handling compared to a narrow 13" wheel. The backspacing is the same as on the 4.5" version so they have that extra inch to the outside that brings the wheel out from underneath the car..
They came mostly on the performance versions like the Barracuda Formula S, Dart GTS, Duster 340 and so on. Not easy to come by here in Europe, I sourced for a while before I had a decent set to put on my '65 Valiant wagon but it was time well spent.
For the time being they are painted black but will be bodycolor pretty soon. Tires are 195/75-14 that are a good bit taller than stock, makes it ride nicer and helps on the highway rpms.
And yes I know it has '67 caps, I just like them 8)
