What did u paint ur motor ?

yea I wonder why that is? you would think they could get it right
I think I will use the international harvester red when I repaint my engine

The color that most people think is the closest is the Chrysler Industrial Red. NAPA used to carry it a couple of years back but I don't know if they still do now. International Harvester red is closer than the Mopar P4349218.

A slant looks killer in Hemi orange. My 318 is orange, my 400 is orange and my warm 318 is race Hemi orange. I may go with a different color on the next BB that I build.

My buddy built a /6 a few years back and painted it Cummins Beige with a black valve cover. It really looks sharp! Different to!

I'm gonna build a really hot engine one day in that VHT pink just to mess with people:D

Another good /6 color is yellow.

I say Chrysler blue. With a black engine bay and a red exterior I think it would offset nicely.

wow i didnt get stoned for the black this time lol ...... well maybe the blue .. that was on my old 74 val was ford blue or some thing any one got pics of a slant in the mopar blue and Hemi orange ...... and any thing off the wall

Just don't paint the engine black because that is a Chevy deal.

It's not a leaning tower of power and I didn't paint it myself, but mine is silver. I like it; it matches the aluminum heads well.

bub, my caprice's engine was painted with auto paint and it was holding up great

I just called my paint supply house and they have a different set up the doing the spray cans like the used to do. This is some kind of a jar system that you can put any paint in and reuse it. Making sure the surface is prepared is the main step in any paint work. I asked about painting engines with automotive paint and he told me that he does do it all the time and the only problem areas are where the heat comes off the heads to the manifolds/headers. He said that he sand blasts the engine parts, primers and then paints. I don't like the idea of paint coming off so I think I will buy high temp paint and have it tinted to the correct color.

Wish I could find the pics of my /6,as it was painted the same as my 340 !! Ford Medium Calypso Green !!

My understanding is that if you cycle the temp gradually it should stand up !!My slant did until one of the freeze plugs decided not to play nice !!
