Ok so I have a 70 dart 318 car.It has the trim down the side above the wheelwells and a stip below the door. so my question is should I put the trim back on or leave it.If I leave it off I'm going to add a black stipe across the trunk and down the quarters.I'm not sure the stripe and trim would look good together. If I delete the trim whats the best way to plug the holes so I can put them back on later if I chose to.I figure welding is the best way but redrilling welded holes is tricky.I would prefer a muscle look over a classy look my opinion. Please be honest.I'm going back with the hemi orange and I will probably use the trim under the doors. Thanks in advance.
Oh and the top will be orange also and maybe two black scoops on the hood.

The rocker trim (which was typically blacked out below) defines it as a 70 and IMHO should stay. A bumble bee stripe was also available in 70 and looks good. If you have a strip along the center body line midway up the door it wasn't factory, and I think it spoils the looks of the car and would interfere with the stripe. Most of these were "rub strips" designed to keep the doors from getting dinged in parking lots. I think they are uglier than door dings.

It's your car, do what you like, but that's my $.02.

Delete the trim, weld the holes. my 2 cents.

Am deleting the side trim on my 65 Dart wagon; definitely weld the holes closed.

Thats funny.I'm torn between racy and original restore.I'm leaning toward deleteing the upper trim and keeping the lower with the bumble bee stripe.
here is a better look at the upper trim, didn't know it wasn't any option in 70.

The side trim looks like the aftermarket press-on style and wouldn't have holes in the body. Might do some damage to the paint when removed though.

Funny cause it looks like the trim on my dart and underneath my trim is like swiss cheese... Why the hell did ma mopar drill holes in there brand ******* new cars?!? HellO! Adhesives please?

Hey, I'm not a fan of the trim that runs down both sides. It totally looks like a dealer add-on. Clean up the body and a tail stripe would really bring it together. Here's my car with the trim...

Mine has the nice holes under both upper and lower trim.
Derek that car looks good with the trim and I seen another that had it but both were orange and fresh paint.

Have you removed the upper side trim yet? It is factory at least my 71' it was and mine had studs that need to be ground down and a few holes to fill.

Mine has holes that plastic rivets hold a plastic holder piece that the trim snaps onto. The stud ones are spot welded on.

I had a '71 years ago and the side trim was glued on. I took it off. Looked better. This time with my '70 I'm gonna leave it for now. Was first time at welding, and I need some improvement before I try to weld shut all them itty bitty holes. Dats my two cents. But it is your dime and your time, so do to it what you want. It won't change the fact that it is a Mopar and a Dart!

That trim was a popular dealer add-on. A lot of it was both drilled and glued. I would leave it there until a repaint, then it would be gone.

my 71 dart had both upper and lower holes drilled..I welded the holes shut ...no trim on car..

A little research and my car was factory upper and lower trim.
Make the decision a little hard.I don't want to totally customize it but I really like the bee srtipe and I dont think both will look good together.

The less trim, the better. Most trim pieces only busy up the look of a clean car. I never quite got how the upscale body packages were "drill holes in stuff, which lead to rust."
