I am about to pull the trigger on new tires for the 67 DART.
I have installed a offset kit from Dr Diff and have purchased a set of 15 x 8 4.25 backspace
Cragar rims.

I am going with a 255 tire as the 275 is a wee bit to close on the sidewalls.

For those of you who are running a 255 or close to it, are you using a 60 series or 50 series tire?

Thanks

255-60-15 = 27.1" tall, this would be about 1" taller than a stock tire.

255-50-15 = 25.4" tall, this would be a bit shorter than a stock tire.

The 50 & 60 represent a %. The width will be the same but the 1st # gets multiplied time the 50 or 60 % and that makes up the distance from rim to ground in Millimeters.

Thanks for the info,

I am also wondering if you think the taller tire would look better?

I know that is a tough question but I would like to hear some opinions out there.

Thanks

A tire that's a bit taller looks way better than one that short. A short tire just doesn't fill the wheel opening.

That's my opinion.

Really cool convertible. Not many out there.
I'm not getting any action on my post. Maybe my donor car has some Duster fans angry.
With your 4.5" backspace I assume that stock 15x8 Magnums will not work on my 68. I'll go by a tire store and see.

yes, needed the off set to be able to squeeze the 255 in.

Funny how much diffrence the offset makes.

I might get the 275 in but my fender lip is not rolled and I am leary about doing that procedure. Everything that I have done to the car can be brought back to stock but the lip roller is no return.

Planning on doing same... eventually on my 69 Dart vert.
How much did the offset kit cost?
Do you know if 15x10 Cragars would have fit or is 15x8 the max? Would like to put 255 60x15 on rear.

Thanks for your help.

I will check on my car as it is still wheelless. I think 15 x 10 will fit if you can get a lot of offset but you may run into the wheel and orginal wheel tub with the rubber.

if I am not mistaken my springs are now in line with the wheel well upper tube.
