I feel guilty about something that I did tonight.

IMO the OP should have not helped the repo man but that is water under the bridge. What to do with the "bounty" is his bidness but I like the idea of giving it to the guy who lost the truck. The $500 may help him get over being snitched on and screwing a neighbor is generally a bad idea, at least around where I live.

Another repo story... a guy I knew put a aftermarket exhaust on a Avalanche in his back yard and the guy never came for it. They disconnected the battery so it would not go down and there it sat for a little over a year. One day they decided to reconnect the battery and start it and drive it around the block - no insurance or current tag. Next day a tow truck comes by and wants to tow the car - offers the guy $500 if he will get his stuff out of the way so he can connect - no deal but pay $1500 and you can take it (he was out a year of storage and the exhaust work plus he is a broke hustler). Tow guy leaves but later the guy gets a notice from the bank in the mail offering some moolah for the car. He gets in touch with the bank and explains the cost to store and the cost of the work done, they do some math and tell him he can keep the thing! he gets the title a while later and sells it to a "buy it now" place for $17K, book is over $20K.

Screw these banks.

not F-ING likely! then he bought some magic beans with the money and traded them for the brooklyn bridge !
