I rarely take my car to car shows. But I took my 69 Dart to the Hot Rod show in El Segundo, CA last night because they were going to have a cackle fest with a couple of 68 top fuel dragsters. It was really a good show. I had just started up my car to leave when a couple of folks said 'great sounding car' and 'beautiful car' when one guy pops his head into my passenger window and asks "did this used to be a Coronet?". I was flabbergasted but he was serious. I am not a mean spirited type of guy but I couldn't help it. I told him 'yes, but it took a lot of work to shrink the car down to look like a Dart'. He states "well you did a wonderful job'. And I thanked him for his comment. Now does this look like a Coronet from any year?

Nice save with that cool-headed temper, but good looking mini Coronet!!!...LOL. Just next time we need to point the clueless Chevy people in the right direction!!!! Hilarious.

drunken and bulrred vision with it going 90 it might be mistaken for the back of a 66 coronet...

LOL, That`s what I love about car shows...JAFO`s and `Self proclaimed experts` or SPE`s. I think your car was once a Olds Vista Cruzer wagon myself...LOL.

This is one I love. I had my numbers 70 Cuda 440 auto, Sassy Grass at a Mopar meet. This fellow said to me. My brothers sister`s aunt, that was twice removed had a car back in 1968 that was the twin to you car here. It was exactly the same,,,,,except. It was black, had a red inside, 6 speed and bigger tires but, it was the spitt`n image of the Rambler ya all got here. Nice car.`

I want what he was smok`n....LOL.`

PS What do you think of my 71 Plum crazy hemi Charger it`s a 1 of 1. :hockey: `Keep yer stick on the ice

Oh I forgot to mention a guy from work used to own a 68 Plymouth Duster. I tried to correct him, but he insisted that he was correct. So apparently there is a 68 duster somewhere.

The other day the neighbor kid came to my house and asked to borrow some jack stands to "restore" his Monte Carlo tonight... I said sure, he came in the garage and asked me if my 67 Dart GT was an Impala.

Some damn fine body work went into making your old Hemi SuperBee look like a Dart!

I have been told, from the back, my 68 notchback barracuda looks like a baby roadrunner...If you don't see the trunk molding or rear taillights I guess. lol

Talked to a guy last evening at a local show. Said he had a Charger years ago
with the overhead cam 383. Said those are hard to find today.

No $hit

My 67 Coronet has been called a Road Runner, a Charger, a Galaxie, and an Impala. My 68 Barracuda fastback has been called a Mustang, a Pontiac, a Maverick, and even a Corvette, but the one my buddies will never let me forget was at a car show in Rockville, Maryland when an old guy studied my white 68 fastback from front to back and then announced that he at one time had a Pinto that was just like it.
But, it doesn't bother me. Obviously they aren't really into cars, but did like the car well enough to at least take a look.

same thing here...i was told nice impala..i have 72 demon

my next door neighbor thinks my 66 belvedere is a impala fastback....

66 Charger looked like a Torino Talledega...A 69 ish (?) Mercury Spoiler 3 (like one of 2 concept cars I saw on the internet) looks just like a big 240Z..Roadrunner looked kinda like a Satellite to me ;-)

I'll take a compliment from a naive person being nice over a jackass that feels the need to tell me what's "wrong" with my cars any day of the week.

Everybody always tell you about how they "had one of those back in the day". They also get all worked up over $2 trophies.
Last week I'm at a show in North Jersey when a guy next to me says how much he likes my '70 Roadrunner, 2 minutes later I'm sitting down and I overhear him telling a guy how he knows my car and how it has the wrong engine, and is the wrong color. FU dirtbag.

I have had father's point out my car to their family and proudly tell them "look there is a Nova." :violent1:

I just smile.

And no, your car does NOT look like a Coronet from any angle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go easy. Not everybody lives and breathes Mopars, Chevy's, or even classic cars. I probably seemed like a fool to the guy at the pool years ago who asked "who are you rooting for in the game". I asked "what sport?" Turns out there was a hoops game between UT Knoxville and ???, like everyone cared (this was in Atlanta). Mopar guys have a reputation as good-natured rednecks. Don't make us appear like snooty bicyclists. BTW, I commute daily by bike but don't wear Lycra or pay more for bike parts than auto parts.

Guy's Thats why I only takes the Duster to Mopar events!!!!! Some of the things I have been told,i should write a book on,My car is a 70 Duster with a 5.7 Hemi in it,You know how many guys come up to me and say " Nice corvette motor,That took some work" Hence only Mopar events for me--Steve

Hence only Mopar events for me--Steve

Not a guaranteed thing there either. Had a guy at a Mopar only show looking at the "340 Four Barrel" pie pan and ask me "if this has a 340 in it?" Another Mopar expert told me about his mother's 1970 383 4 door factory Dart that she drove him to school in........

I try not to get annoyed, but every time I drive my Dart, someone asks me what year. I tell them 73. Then, someone somewhere that they know had one just like it. There must have been a bazillion neon green Darts back in the day. I wonder where they all went?

The worst thing I ever heard was at a weekly car show in North St. Paul. From my own cousin, no less. She looked at my Dart and my brother's 66 Charger and said they were "cute". I let her live, but it wasn't easy.
