Gonna have surgery this Friday

Had my defibrillator checked out the other day at the Doctors office.
Was told that one of the leads that goes from the heart to the
defibrillator is failing. Kinda like a plug wire jumping spark. It could
cause the defib to shock me when it isn't needed. These leads are
coming up on 20 years old. They are the originals that were installed
in 1992 when my first unit was installed.

They can't actually replace the leads as they are screwed and stitched
to the heart. They will remove the defib. that is in my abdomen and install
a new unit into my upper chest. The old leads will be left inside me. The new
leads will be inserted thru a vein and will "dangle" in the heart as I understand it.

This will be my 5th defibrillator to be implanted. The last one was in Nov. 2005

I may be off the puter for a few days after Friday. Will have to heal from 2 incisions this time. Won't be able to drive the 'Cuda for a while (no power steering). My son-in-law is going to drive me up to Indy in the 'Cuda on the 30th as The indy Mopar Club will be doing the JDRF walk.

Needless to say, we will be keeping an eye on the cars....not walking.
