I spotted this a 1964 Plymouth Barracuda sitting in the weeds growing up around it, back in july 2009 on a tip someone gave me. I stopped and asked about it and to my amazement it was for sale. On august 4th 2009 we loaded the Barracuda up on my trailer and drove it home to be saved and restore. The old man who sold to me was in his 70's, he was glad to let someone have it that was going to restore it only and not part it out. I talked him down for a mere $400 for the 64 Barracuda. The car is unmolested and he says it does run, but smokes. Guess we will find out in the near future. It has the 273 V-8, push button automatic. He told i guess i will take $400 for it but under one condition, rut roh here it comes... You have to take that complete front end for the barracuda. I need them, the hood and fenders off the back of my old pickup lol. He told he use to just drive it around the backyard and let his grandkids use it as a playhouse. The Barracuda has been sitting for around 7 years. So here's ya some pics...

How it was sitting when I found it in Alabama on July 26, 2009

Brought the 1964 Barracuda safe and sound to Georgia, with the extra hood and fenders, pulled by old 1991 Dodge 250 Club Cab, August 4th 2009 late in the afternoon. Now quietly sleeping comfortably, dreaming and waiting to make its comeback.

Awesome deal you got there. Dont let it sleep to long. I cant wait for her to come back to life.

looks like quite the project...good luck and welcome aboard...you'll find plenty of great help here on FABO!

Aloha!

All right, another one saved! Keep those pictures coming and good luck!

Yikes!!! that's gonna be some major work. It will be a sweet one, just dont get scared away from it when you start buying stuff for it. Not the cheapest car to build. And from the looks of it, I would say about $25,000 just in body work. Good luck with it!!!

There was a 64 at Hot August Nights from Oregon. Had a v8 & 4 spd with the push button shift on the dash. Clean body. No rust. Interior was decent. Wanted $7000.

start a restoration page. Its cool to look back at what it looked like a month or so ago.

I do my own work. I started the on the extra hood today. Got the old paint stripped off it and primered today. It will be installed on the Barracuda tomorrow. Yes I know it will take a lot, whew a whole bunch of work lol. But gotta love it! Not nuch time working rotating shifts, but old school mechanic here and knows how to do the body work. Just wished I had more time. I know its a Chevy in the pics below, but here's a sample my own bodywork on my 78 Elky. Not the greatest photos, but gives you a idea of doing your own body work and my own body work. The Elky took 3rd place in a local car show in the Unfinished Class. It was my 1st time to ever enter a car show.

Bought the stripper at Walmart.

Hood turned out better than I thought it would. Still needs some minor sanding and another coat of primer to finish it.

Hope not over doing it here on the photos?

Oh forgot to mention, I found a 64 Dodge Dart, 4 door in the junkyard today. In East ALA/ West GA. I think its around a 64,65 or 66. Trying to get some rims for mine. i think it is a 65, the interior is unmolested. I even seen the complete gauges, knobs ,good door panels, crank handles etc.... Radio is the only thing I noticed missing, had chrome on outside of it still. I got their late, so they are going to pull the gas tank and rims for me and I am going to pick them up Monday. I can take some photos and go back get the parts if any body is interested? I have been going to this junkyard for over 17 years. I normally get to pull my own parts there.

Does anybody know if the gas tank will fit the Barracuda? It looked like the tire well was about the same from the underside.

Does anybody have the PLYMOUTH letters for the trunk on my Barracuda? I need the "H", the rest of letters are there. And possibly the Valiant script under the trunk lid?

Looks like this, except faded midnight blue

I know its been a good while since I have posted any pics of the Barracuda. It is finally starting to look like the Fish. But still have a long way to go.... Slowly but surely she is coming back alive.

Does it still look like the same car I rescued from the weeds? Still need just a driver quality headlight bezel for the drivers side to replace that one that is wrong one for it. Taking donations for the bezel lol. Anybody willing to donate one for it?

"Hope not over doing it here on the photos? " That made me laugh. I doubt you will ever hear a complaint here about too many photos. Also got a kick out of the 8 year old working with the paint stripper. Brings me back to my own childhood.
