High Volume Oil Pump on stock 318
I filtered through all the suggestions and appreciate the responses. I left a message at Melling and actually got a call back promptly. Here is what I gathered from a call from an engineer at Melling. There really isnt any benefit to using the HV pump in my rebuilt stock engine. A hardened shaft is not needed in a stock engine. He did say if I choose to use HV, I should stay away from heavy weight oils. He never heard of a Dodge sbc suck a pan dry. He said a stock pump is preferred in the 318 but, if I didnt want to buy one use the HV pump. I don't think I'm taking a chance, if a stock pump works in every other 318, I'm buying a new one. Thanks
