I recently closed all my threads /Sold for parts for sale. A staff member closed the thread for good reason. Im very new at this whole thing. Im not smart with cars and i find selling parts for a good price gives me a few bucks plus its a way of me contributing. I have had some not so nice Pms and i guess i need to develope thicker skin. Not let things get to me. Im not calling anyone out nor do i want this thread to Urk anyone. I appologize for flippin out and marking my items sold. I thought about it and there are some members i left high and dry wanting some of my items. Sorry.........I really like this site and its helped me a great deal. The last thing i want to do is cause hard feelings. I may decide to try and sell more items and have more interaction in threads........Again i appologize for any hard feelings. Nite Moves Edd

I may make some enemies with this post but this is out of hand. I know what the rules are. But it seems like every other ad thread I see has a moderator jumping on the poster. I would rather see a ad with no location and pm for it than an attack on every other poster. I think some are a little overzealous. Whats wrong with a private pm to the violator instead of a public call out. Mods jumping on these threads are taking away from the friendly feel of fabo in my opinion. I myself am starting to feel sorry for the posters. Ban me if you see fit because I have an opinion but step back mods and think how you would feel being called out in public.DD

That's an angle I hadn't thought of......and you gotta point.

If the moderators are so quick to delete a post,or move it,you have to wonder if there figures and brains are working. If a poster puts a item up for sale like we all do,and forgets the personal info,is it beyond the thinking to type a PM to him to install it,or email him since its in his/her info package,I know its thinking out side the box, like dudes, take a pill. The system can be set up to have the personal info set up to come on screen when ever a classified add is being posted, their email address, what ever phone numbers they have and location. You can do it with a simple link to your personal info chart that is post automatically any time one goes to post a classified add.Does the person have a responsabillity to list it,YES,but you don,t shot the person because of a type O.If the members would fill out there personal file correctly and put all the info in,as stated above,a simple icon can show that all the info is with their name, and can be contacted. We are here to HELP each other, not cause problems, but to solve problems,as such, some one must be smart enough to contact a person and correct it before deleting a post,it is the year of 2011,you are allowed to talk to a person and correct things, mrmopartech

Sorry DD but I can't agree with you this time and no you ain't getting banned for speaking out at least not by me. I think though a little history is in order.
For the last couple months (hell, years) probably 80% of the "for sale ads" that are missing information have been brought to the Mods attention by members either reporting the thread, by hitting the report button, or PMing Mods to complain or just complaining on the thread. Up until last month most Mods, including myself, would send the OP'r a PM asking that person to clean up the ad and put in the missing info. Several times the OP would get pissy with us (stuff like F off or who the hell are you) for taking up their valuable time or just ignore us all together. A couple weeks ago it was decided that there wasn't going to be any anymore warnings and that this would appear on the ad from now on. ****Your Ad was deleted by staff. Please review the "for sale forum" rules before posting again. **** Hell just the other day I PM'd a poster to get some info missing on his ad and after 2 days I was still getting the runaround, meanwhile 3 members were complaining so guess what, the thread got deleted.
Now I can't say what happened with Nite Moves last post that got closed but I am here to defend the process.

@ Demonseed, dont need you to agree but from this side of the keyboard it aint pretty.

This thread is about NiteMoves apology to FABO members, not about the Mods reminding members about ad rules.Alls good Edd.

hate seeing Mods getting involved with anything, but I certainly wouldn't spend my time PM'ing people, if I were them, when they've been beating this drum for well over a year now. At some point, people have to understand that "read the rules before posting a classified" mean actually read the damn rules.

Here's a suggestion that would help all parties involved:

Modify the classified section so that whenever a new thread or ad is created, there should be 3 or 4 mandatory fields that must be completed before you can even submit the listing. That way a member physically can not post an add without the required info, and mods aren't forced to Pm or delete anything. Boom - everyone wins.

Very well spoken Edd, you're new to selling and learning as you go, yes it takes a very thick skin, don't know if I could do it. I hope you keep selling and enjoying the extra income and comeraderie. We need more FABO members like you to contribute and keep the hobby going. We all need to remember to keep our cool in front of the keyboard.

I would deal with Nite Moves again, his post I seen was all good,I must have missed seeing anything wrong and if I did I would have pm'ed you Edd, Thank you for the parts I picked up from you and looking forward to more post from you.
I have pm'ed a few new members that added there phone # or there email address and asked to read the rules and repair them, remove it before the site has your post deleted and if the next few hours, (or sooner) later they ignored me I hit the report button
I don't know waht happened Edd :coffee2: But it sounds like something was learned bud :happy10:
Jump on in and post'em up and ejoy this great bunch here.
I am so proud of my Foot peddle and pre 66 710/OIL cap.
Thick skin is a must Edd, I see remarks in the help threads that I just say to myself (what the heck good did that smart a$$ remark do in helping anyone in this thread)..:tongue3::glasses7::coffee2:
It takes all types to make this world go around Edd.. hang in there and keep on keeping on and learn as we go my friend.:D

No worries, Edd. At one time or another, we all loose our cool on the internet. It's the nature of the beast. Don't worry about it.

FYI you can still go back to those for sale adds of yours and mark them 'unsold' by going to the thread tools and clicking 'Mark this thread as unsold.'. Its in the same place as the the mark thread sold button.

If you ever need anything,or have any questions, please feel free to PM me or any of the other Mods. Thats one of the reasons we are here.

Have a good one,
Cevidicus

What can a person say the guy gave a sincere apology to FABO and IMO we should accept graciously we all can learn a little and do better next time.

Edd, dont sweat it, within the 1st month or 2 of me joining FABO, me and another member had a miscommunication. I think we just both took a deep breath and let it slide. Stuff happens, and sometimes its easy to get into bitchin' back and forth as both people sometimes need to prove they are right(testosterone vs testosterone) but sometimes its just better to stop and let the other person continue on. I for one met Edd in person and he was more than gracious and hospitable(2 beers worth). I would have gotten more stuff from Edd, but his 67 dart and my 69 cuda dont have a lot of parts that can be shared. I mainly went for one part, and stupid me I didnt read the description right as it wouldnt work for me. But to me it was all good as I got to meet a fellow FABO member that is a great guy and more than generous. In my opinion Edd this apology thread wasnt needed...the way I see it you have done nothing wrong. Keep postin and lets get that dart moving forward!!

I agree, and it happened to me... twice in the same thread! LOL...

I closed Edds thread about not selling parts here. To me it looked like Edd was frustrated, nothing more nothing less. And the thread that was closed, well, was going to go sideways, in my opinion. I have not been here all that long but one thing that is somewhat apparent is some members have a hard time with the policy of "if you aint got nothing nice to say keep your mouth shut". Sorry if you do not agree with it.....
As far as the sale ad issue, rules are rules. Pretty simple. Dont like it, bring it up with Joey. Is it that hard to follow them?? Why should a moderator go in and delete an email address or phone number when the rules clearly state Do NOT post email addresses or phone numbers in your ad or in any response to an ad. Use the PM feature. Only FABO Gold Members may place email and phone numbers in ads. And why should any one have to chase down some ones location?

I personally have never seen a discouraging word from our friend Nite Moves, but if he feels the need to apologize, I hope the subject of his apology reaches those he feels he has offended!!

I also have listed many items here for sale and have never had my threads deleted or corrected, so I must be doing something right. I guess my word of advise to Edd would be to post a for sale ad as clearly and descriptive as you like to read them when you are interested in something, and also to stand behind your item and price. Theres always someone who will not agree with your price, but without knowing your circumstances should just pass on your item and call it good!!! Keep on just being you Edd, its all you can be!!! geof
