Did you go with the 8.3 or the 8.4?

It's going to have to be the 8.3. The 8.4 is too far out of my budget. The 8.3 I posted a link to is the best deal I've found. If anyone finds a better one with transmission, let me know.

Yes the front is a 67 but the fenders are a 68. If interested there is a person sellin 2 front fiberglass fenders that will fit. http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=162021
He has them advertised as 69 but the 67-69 are basically the same with only a few minor changes.
Good luck with the build as it looks to be a nice one. Ambitious but nice!!!

Saw these and I'm going to try to get them. Thats a great deal.

I was asking swisswill if he was using the 8.4 or the 8.3, he is also using the SRT-10 in his Dart

No, he's using a 5.7 hemi because the 8.3 is too big and upsets the balance for him.

Disregard what I said then, I was going from the plan last Feb. I didn't know about the Viper motor that started in June.

In correct statement, I've already got mine. I saved a ton by going with the 8.0L and will have less into getting it up to 550hp than if I went 8.3. I also appreciate the forged bottom end for future FI add-ons...

How are you getting the power up? I heard hotwirez had something for it but haven't found it. I can pick up the 8.0 and save a ton! I found one cheap. Like 2K.

I am looking forward to seeing both cars come together.

I've got the computer and wiring harness for it already. Check with your Dodge dealer too, you'd be surprised what you can get from them at reasonable prices. Ebay has electronics if you're looking also. 2k is a good price, just make sure it's a Gen 2, NOT a Gen 1. Electronics make life difficult in the Gen 1. I mistakenly almost jumped on a Gen 1 until the guys at Woodhouse set me straight.

In terms of hotwire, they will flash the ecu and use the oem harness to build a hot rod harness. Should be able to go without needing them to do anything. My complication is trying to get my Gen 3 ABS to talk to my Gen 2 ECM. Think I found a way around that though.

Another option is hold out for the Gen 5. I just read 8.7 L, 531 c.i.
Too bad that will be costing major moolah. If the 8.4 is like $10k, I can't imagine how badly they will grease you up and Deliverance you on that engine.

Whats a reasonable price range on the Gen 2 8.0?

Seen a couple around 5-6k.

Subscribed.... Im doing a Gen 3 in a Demon.... I know Swiss has a ton of info and I been building an lot as well... I'm looking forward to seeing this come together.

Should be able to find a Gen 2 with electronics for 4-5k, add a trans for 5-6k, 7k tops for something pristine.

I've already connected with the guys at Roe a few times, even before the engine. They and Woodhouse were a big help in getting suspension sorted out. Woodhouse even bigger in helping me figure out how to adapt ABS. The Viper community has some awesome resources.

You will actually run ABS, or just trying to make the computer happy?

Running ABS. I am using Viper suspension, brakes, wheels & tires. I'll be a bit heavier than the Viper and weight bias will be more to the front but I'm working on that. By using Viper wheels and tires the algorithms work even though the weight and distribution will be different, according to my research and the techs I've spoken with. The Gen 2 didn't have ABS until real late in the gen and the Gen 3 ABS can be operated without the computer. Should work out well, but before I take the car on the street I'll be sure to get to a track and do some testing, HARD!
