Was an internal ( inside ) hood release an option on the '70 Dart? My 340 70 Swinger has the factory under-the-hood release. It would be nice to have an inside release to prevent any quick pop-the-hood and see what someone could jack ( such as the original air breather ). As it is now I won't leave the car unattended to even duck into my local 7-11 store.

No, but it is easy to add one from a later model. They are pretty common on cars from about '73 & '74.

My 73 Duster didn't have one to begin with. Got one from a 74-75 Valiant.
It came with the latch and cable/handle. Bolted right in. The dash even had
the holes for the mount.

Do you still have the complete assembly? If so,would it fit a 74 dart and how much shipped to 92336? Thanks

Still, if somebody wanted to its not that hard to lay on the ground and reach up and pull the cable housing, if you pitch the sleeve with needle nose pilers, then the cable locks in and a good yank will open the hood...if that fails you always can cut the cable with diagonals, just twisting it should pop the hood open.

You need to chain or a thick cable and padlock the hood with the frame if you really want to stop a thief. If I park my car overnight outside I pull the battery cable and use a bike chain and good key padlock to keep the hood tightly shut.

You can't stop a good thieve but you can slow them down.

I wonder if this can be done on all A bodies?

I did mine with a 77 dodge truck hood release
I attached the pull to my heater box under the dash in the middle and ran the cable where the is already a hole in our early A's, and no, you can not reach under and pull on the cable. Let me see if I can find pictures, I had it in my restoration thread but they are deleted :eek:ops:
