Young guns-sign in contest 2011
I hope it's not too late for me to jump in here...
My name is Khalid Zineddin and I'm currently 20 years old. I've been obsessed with Mopars since I was about 15 when I got a ride in a 440-powered '65 Dodge Coronet Super Stock look-alike. My parents aren't really car people so I've been sort of "paving my own way" when it comes to this hobby.
This is the car that 'started it all' for me:
My dad bought me my '70 Duster when I was 16 back in 2008 or so. It was an original 318/904 car with 106,000 miles that we got for $3000. Here it is when I first brought it home :
Naturally as soon as I was able I pulled the engine and swapped on 302 heads, a Performer intake, Carter AFB carb, Lunati Voodoo 60401 cam, and dual exhaust. It ran pretty good except for the fact that it was extremely worn out and burned a quart of oil every 10 days or so LOL!
Last June I finally decided to pull the hopelessly worn out engine and trans and have been spending the last year+ gathering up parts and building a fresh 360 with Magnum heads. A pic of the engine so far:
Needless to say I've learned a lot when it comes to restoring/modifying classic cars, mainly that it takes twice as much (or more) time and money to fix things up the way you want than you originally planned! Since I am a full-time Mechanical Engineering student at CU-Denver this has been a long and hard battle and any extra support would be GREATLY appreciated. Well that's my story and thanks for reading!
