650 Holley DP instead of a Thermoquad, BUMMER

I'm running that exact same intake and carb combo on my '72 Magnum motor'd Dart. It's the intake that is way too tall for mine. I bought the Edelbrock drop base air cleaner (14"x3") from Autozone. It's cheesy but it worked and was cheap enough for now.

This is the first Holley I'd ever run and I just always used salvage yard air-cleaner housings. I never knew that most won't clear the fuel bowls on the Holleys, and that was really the root of my problem. The Carters are so compact that anything will work on them, but the Holley's need something to fit "around" the carb, too.

Also, that intake was a PITA, especially if using the Magnum accessory brackets, and I shudder to think about trying to keep the Magnum A/C with that intake. I'll get a Mopar or name-brand intake next time, no question.

You might be able to mill a little off the intake but if you're using an adapter, I think the gains of the TQ will be moot. It's still a square-bore intake...
